I've been thinking about this. With this bailout that has come to pass, there is no doubt that inflation and interest rates are going to have to skyrocket. What happens when people who have bad credit own homes whose interest rates double and triple? Rent prices go up everywhere. It's happened in Seattle, and other big cities around the country.
5 years ago you could rent a nice apartment in an upscale neighborhood for somewhere around $700-800 a month. Now you won't find them for less than $1500. As this continues housing will soon become unaffordable for many, many Americans.
That said, don't sell your SUV because of gas prices. You won't get anything for it at this point anyway. Hang on to it, park it. One of these days you're going to have to live in it.
good thing I secured my home loan 5 years ago for only 4.75%

Or they'll just have to move away from the big cities into a more affordable market...

I think you need to follow through on this and then drive up to Barney Frank's penthouse and invite him down for a nice cup and thank him for the 'true shafting' he enjoys the most.
Well, if we have to move into my car at least I'll have a home that's paid for.
