View Full Version : Economics Can McCain clean up the mess?

I just would like all the McCain followers to go on record now, because two years into his administration the country will be ten times worse AND I KNOW THAT all of you Cons will be blaming liberals, not your own party's dangerous policies.
So tell me, McCain voters, you are the ones you have been waiting for; you will be the one's responsible for continuing to keep a failed theory in power...
Where do you see the nation one or two years or even three or four years into his administration? Compare it to now, will it be better? Or worse?
No president will clean this mess up in 4 years much less 2. Especially not with the idiots in congress right now. Plus, whichever party is in power will just blame the other side at the end of the administration. Nobody takes responsibility for anything in DC.

I think more importantly how does your "Pimp Daddy Obama" improve our nation's situation with his BS tax cut to 95% of all Americans. That is the biggest con of all, now with this "welfare bailout" we have to endure.

Nope, McCain won't clean it up even if he tries.
Govt can't fix markets. It can only wreck them. The BBB was a tax increase.
Only way govt can, is if it steps aside to allow the market to reset the equilibrium. And prosecutes fraud.
Other than that it regulates mainly to keep the market safe, from fraud etc.

Please don't avoid my question. Your assumption is that it will be worse with McCain. I would have much rather have Fred Thompson as a candidate but McCain is the lesser of the 2 evils. At least I will get 50-60% conservativism from McCain but the Messiah? Don't even want to go there.
Now, how will Obama improve our nation with literally NO RESUME of accomplishments?

The lesser of 2 evils is still evil. Especially when he may start WWIV.

This is an outstanding example of being unable to answer a question, and turning the question around on the one who posed it, better known as the "Oh yeah? Well, what about YOU??" defense. I edited my post. The "no" was in answer to your question in the thread title.
Am I a conservative? I guess so. I'm married, I support my family, I go to work every day and pay my taxes. I go to church on Sunday and I hate communism. I love my country and I proudly fly an American flag on my front porch.
I hate velveeta cheese.
seriously, nobody in washington can clean up this mess.
the problem I have every four years is this:
power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
at one point, every single man/woman in washington went there, ideologically, to change this country for the better (regardless of political affiliation). however, when you have a staff of twenty telling you that YOU'RE the most important person in DC, you have lobbyists telling you that they need YOU because YOUR vote is the most important, all of the ideology in the world goes out the window because YOU'RE the most GODDAMNED important person in washington.
one of the main reasons the founding fathers never intended the system the way it is now--there was NEVER supposed to be a ruling class that ruled as a career. it was their intention that the 'common man' (in 1790 that was white male landowner) would go to DC to serve a term or two and get about his life. congress wouldn't pay enough to make it a career, and there would be an influx of new ideas every few years.
but this system is stagnant. has been probably 60-70 years. our political system has become a festering, rotting boil on the ass of this country. go ask most people: we don't trust our politicians as far as we can throw them, they can't balance a checkbook, why the FUCK would we want them to balance a federal fucking budget?
well, tom jefferson said it best--we need a revolution. not of guns, bullets, blood and knives. we need a revolution of ideas. we need fresh blood in washington DC. we need fresh blood in every office in this country. we need people whose sole motivation isn't to become the next rainmaker.
and the sad thing? it'll likely never happen. the people in this country are too fucking comfortable. I'm convinced the matter of another depression won't change fucking anything. people will continue to grasp onto the next power teet and buy any talking points as long as they don't have to face the sad, indelible truth.
we're royally FUCKED.

I say this all the time, but it's all a part of the cartoon many have to create in their heads of what a liberal is. We are all America hating, baby killing, God hating poor people on welfare who don't work or are too young to know better. I know libs make up the same type of cartoon of conservatives... so it's not just a con "thing," but it is funny to see so many people buy into that silliness.

Please don't avoid my question.
I'll add another.
Why do you think Obama is a messiah? It's an odd thing to think about someone you so vehemently hate.
I believe we have a much better chance cleaning this mess up with conservative financial policy which means letting the free market clean it up. Since when has government intervention ever benefited the taxpayer? Uncle Sam never leaves wants he gets into the issue and only proceeds further over time making things worse. I thought for sure when McCain suspended his campaign he was going to rally all the Repubs to not sign the bill only letting the Dems send it through with just their names on it. Which they could have but Dems needed the Repubs on it so if it fails it would be a so-called bi-partisan screw-up. However, both parties saw this as an opportunity to get their "pork" for their constituents as opposed to doing the right thing the taxpayer. McCain let me down for sure but he is the lesser of 2 evils in approaching his problem.
McCain missed a Huuuuuuuuuuuge opportunity to separate himself from Bush and put the onus back on Barack to show that Barack had no problem putting this bill on the backs of the taxpayer while McCain was fighting for the little guy. But instead he pussed out and gave into the "chicken little credit screamers" and lost a severe leverage point on Barack that could have re-directed the anger of the American taxpayer towards those that really caused all this in the first place, Frank and crew.
Repubs are to blame for not forcing the issue hard enough and never backing off back in 2005. But IMO they backed off afraid of potentially being called "socio-economic racists" now knowing the full context of who Fannie and Freddie really are and how they were set up and are run by the Dems forcing these banks to give these liberal loans out to minorities and low income folks who really could not afford them.
My term "Messiah" is said sarcastically as you already know and I think you asked that to get under my skin, maybe not. The Dem party power brokers and Barack are a perfect fit for each other. The Dem party finally found a charasmatic, well speaking candidate that is not seasoned enough that they can control him like a puppet. And just so happens he is black which is even better because now they can throw out the race card at anytime if he is attacked too hard. The Dem party and mainstream liberal press finally have their "Ronald Reagan" and they will protect him at all costs.
His charisma and speaking abilities as talented as they are come off over time as very messianic promising the uneducated masses that need "coddling" all this hope and change never being required to define all this hope and change in detail. He has promised the world "with no resume of legislative or real world accomplishments" for that matter to back up his promises. Yet many in this country are ready to give the keys to the WH to this guy who has no executive experience and IMO is very dangerous from a foreign policy perspective. But 'oh he sounds and looks good' so why not!
His attempt at the "Presidential Obama Seal" was his subconscious disdain for our country and exposed his "unchecked ego". Poor move there. I haven't even talked about his many shady questionable associations.
Sorry for the long winded response. I see you are a Mizzou fan as well.

All things considered we should all be pissed off, but to think either of the two candidates is the solution to the problem is beyond logic. We didn't get here overnight and we will not get out of it over night. This situation has been coming since 1992 give or take a little time.
McCain is a liberal wearing republican clothing. Obama is a far left winger that has no clue regarding how to run a nation. Either way we get a liberal in office. All of the liberals here should be happy they are getting what they want in the long run.
