View Full Version : Poop Attempted robbery and homicide at my place last night

I just got a note in the door to our condo that there was an attempted robbery and HOMICIDE last night around 3am. I heard several loud noises last night, so I probably heard the gunshots.

Supposedly random event too. Our condo complex has 4 buildings in a square shape, our building and the one next to us never has crime, the other 2 have tons. Must be that they're closer to the street or something.

Probably time to move, can't believe someone got killed her last night.

Yes, Atlanta sounds like a GREAT place to live!

Guy got his brains blown out on the sidewalk across the street from a place I lived in Chicago once. I worked 10 minutes late that night, and got there 10 minutes after it happened.

I moved shortly thereafter. Horrible neighborhood.

Yeah, I'd say a relocation might be in order, Mr. SBK. At least, you should consider purchasing a weapon. Life's too short to live in a place where you might get shot for no reason.

We, at the FAX Faction believe that crime sucks. It sounds as though you are like-minded. If so, please join our coalition and help us ensure that our next ChiefsPlanet President is not a tool or some kind of peacenik, hippy, criminal-loving, piece of lettuce dishrag.

The funny thing is that this area is full of millionaires. Really a pretty nice area, it's not anything like the war zone south of downtown Atlanta.

I heard the bang bang bang bang bang last night but it didn't sound like gunshots. Sounded more like 2x4's getting hit together, figured some drunk was screwing around.

I can remember as a kid we lived in an apartment complex in Des Moines, Iowa, big time ghetto city. ;) Anyway, about a year after we moved out there was a story on the news about a murder at the complex we had lived at, and I kid you not they were pulling the body out of our apartment, showed them walking out of our old patio door with the body bag on the gurney.

Sounds like that lineman from the Jags getting shot 14 (!) times in that upscale neighborhood. People are just f*cking crazy; you'll move to some other millionaire alcove and find out the world's biggest black market slave traders and child pornographers live there.

That's gotta be creepy.

That neighborhood I lived in (Albany Park, north side of Chicago) was horrible. Lots of gang shit, mostly Latin Kings. Crazy Mexican bastards sure loved shooting things. I heard gunshots at least weekly. One night there was a nice running gun battle down the alley directly behind my building. Three distinctive guns being fired - one was probably a .22 or .25, the other a 9mm or .38, and one that must have been a magnum. So the sound was like pop-pop-bang-pop-BOOM-BOOM-pop-pop-bang. One of them must have got hit, because suddenly I heard screaming and cussing in Spanish. Not much you can do other than keep your head down and hope no errant shots come through the window.

Fun place. I miss it sometimes.

Not.

I didn't mind St. Joe, really. It reminded me of a bigger version of the tiny town I grew up in. That said, I don't really miss it either.

Yes, it was that bad. It was a Comfort Inn, which is normally a decent motel. I guess I should have been clued in by the bulletproof glass in the lobby, but the true horror of the place wasn't visible from street level. No functional exterior lights; it was like the Bates Motel from Psycho, only with a hill. I had to pull up in front of the door and keep the headlights of my car on the door so my wife could see to open it. The room looked like it was decorated in the 70s, and also looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the 70s. And if I hadn't been armed, I would never have stayed there, but I had already paid. We stayed one night and got the hell out. Nasty.

I'm too old to sleep on floors. Plus my wife was with me.

The annoying part was we were only about a mile from the area where all the nice motels were; I was just unfamiliar with the area.

Looks like gated suburban life is in my future. Boring (but safe).....

These days you can live in the "suburbs" and have all the groceries, movie theaters, bars, etc... 10 minutes away.

Now I live in St. Joe and it's nice and all to be close to stuff, but I hate neighbors.

The good thing down here is the gov't is very pro gun. They're suing the airport right now so you can bring a concealed gun to the airport with you.

I shall get one soon, conceal it and pop someone if need be....

I'd say that the place you're in just had the 1 in a million random occurance and is the safest place around right now. Law of averages IMO. Don't do anything rash, although I can imagine it would be a rattling situation to say the least. Glad you and yours are alright.

Heh, I have a concel permit also. Once you get it, there are numerous states that will honor it other than your home state as well. I don't go on a road trip without my Glock 20, 10mm.

Hey, I'm all for having a gun, but Jesus. LMAO

The reason for this is that a ton of folks here ride Marta (the public transit train) to/from the airport. The thugs figured out anyone coming/going from the airport wouldn't be armed, and thus made them targets. So basically they passed this law to put a little bit of doubt in the thugs' minds that are targeting airport travelers.
