View Full Version : Chiefs TG could have set unreachable NFL records for a TE if DV was still the HC!

It is a shame to see such a talent wasted. If it wasn't for DV he probably wouldn't have broken Sharpe's record.

They would have to put an astrick in the record books by his name that his numbers would have been 50% higher if he played with an offensive minded HC like DV his entire career.

That's assuming that Vermeil could have thrown out an o-line to keep his qb upright, and have a quarterback that could deliver him the rock.

While we're speculating let's put an asterisk next to Elway's name (cue the al davis disciples) saying that his numbers would have been astronomical if he played for that rat his entire career. Or even Wade Phillips/Jim Fassel.

This is silly.

Its a good thing that DV got him that Championship that none of the other coaches could achieve.

Errrrrr, wait...

Out of TG's 3 best statistical seasons, only 1 came under Vermeil. The other two were under Gunther Cunningham and (gasp!) Herm Edwards.

Now go jump off a cliff.

I dont disagree, but DV's offense had some really good blocking schemes. Which is one reason why herm scrapped it, no one understood Al Saunders and DV's offense. Sure we had one of the best offensive lines ever. In 2004, our offense averaged 418 yards per game, that is more then the patriots offense averaged in 2007, which was 412. Damn we had an awesome offense under DV, one of the best offenses EVER!

Im not saying things would not have changed for the worse eventually under DV. But damn, could we compete (even if we lost, atleast we lost in style) under DV! Even in our 7-9 season, we atleast were in every game we played. I would take the DV years over the current herm debacle!

It's a damn shame when facts get in the way of one of these fucktard's arguments.

Usually takes less than 5 posts, however. You guys are slipping.

Best thing about breaking the record ... it was "donkey lips" Sharpe's - he wasn't very big on congratualtions.

ROFL

2 winning seasons out of 5, no playoff wins, and people here want to celebrate him as if he's Bill fucking Walsh.

(not directed at you, Brock, I understood the sarcasm in your post)

We should have traded LJ to GB for BF but CP wanted JA out, and we have the losses to prove that the trade was a great trade...

Now only if CP can piss off TG and HE will screw up the draft this year, then GC and DC and CG can give us a losing season next year.

WAY TO GO CH

Well, Gonzo was the team's leading receiver in 3 of DV's 5 seasons.

Gonzo caught 32 of his 68 TDs... and he had 102 catches one season.

Plus TG is only 32. That is young... if we had a good team, I could see him playing another 3-5 years. As is, he will probably retire soon, to pound October's poon full time.

His stats didn't go down because he was fading as a player, that's for sure. He was still young in his career.
