You ought to have to pass a basic civics and current events test prior to each election in order to register to vote.

The test could be approved in a bi-partisan way, so as to insure simplicity enough for a child who is informed be able to answer it, therefore no accusations of disenfranchisement.

I mean, come on, if we don't want dumb asses like W to be President, we shouldn't allow dumb asses to vote, right? (playing devils advocate here any takers on why not?)
