This is on right now. It's the best McCain appearance I've seen in several months. Will post video when available.

I wonder if NObama can deliver a punch line.

I'm crying, I'm laughing so hard. He's got a job in stand up if he doesn't win.

It's a glimpse of what politics could and should be. Sadly, it's only one night.

What the hell is this, a roast?

It's the Al Smith Dinner.

Every pair of candidates since 1960 has attended. Helps raise $$ for catholic charities.

Politics should not be a stand up act, but it is a nice diversion.

It's a conspiracy. He's falling on the sword. Being a good soldier. Sounds implausible but it really is the only thing that makes sense at this point.

the handlers (ex-Bush campaign staff). I heard on NPR today one of them bragging about how "This is the NFL you can't have candidates out there answering everything for the press, they might say something wrong." It was disgusting.

You missed the point. Politics, politicians, and their campaigns should be in the same vein as the comedy we see. Good sport, good spirits, graciousness.

I don't know how I could have missed that point when you made it so clearly and specifically. Or not.

In any event, the lack of animosity was refreshing.

That was a funny line.

I loved Obama's old age joke

"I obviously never knew your grandfather, but from everything Senator McCain has told me, the two of them had a great time together before Prohibition," he said.
