Fantasy & Reality: A taste of my own medicine

Nov. 10, 2008

Senior Fantasy Writer

Reality: Tyler Thigpen is a No. 1 Fantasy QB, and I can't believe I'm saying this. I can recall a time last year when I was laughing at Thigpen's play. I thought he was awful. Shows you what I know -- the Chiefs' quarterback has caught the NFL offguard without the assistance of an effective running game or a perfect offensive line. In his last three games he has thrown six touchdowns, caught another, hasn't turned the ball over once, been sacked just five times and is averaging 6.9 yards per attempt. Only Fantasy owners of Drew Brees and Kurt Warner would turn their up noses at Thigpen at this point. Not only do the Chiefs have their man for the future -- a huge boon for their franchise, but he's also someone who could evolve into a low-end No. 1 Fantasy quarterback in drafts next year. As for this year, he's a keeper, especially playing at home next week against the defensively-challenged Saints.

Hes a fairly safe start this week against a horrible Saints D.

BTW, the Saints are pretenders. A ton of sound and fury signifying nothing.

They put up nice offensive stats, but thats about it.

I don't know if I'd say "fail", but he's going to have bad games, that's a given; they all do. It's how he reacts the following Sunday will be telling. I have a good feeling about Thigpen. Rooting for the guy all the way.

Since Thigpen didn't get much time on the field last year, I think he must have him confused with Croyle.

Can this team or player be any MORE jinxed than the JINX we have with Carl Peterson still being employed at ONE Arrowhead Drive?

Can this kid be more JINXED than having Dick Fucking Curl as a QB coach?

I don't think anything we say or do can make anymore of a JINX than we already have.

IMO

:doh!:

I heard he reprogrammed said Roomba, launched it into space with a single heave and now it circles the earth in orbit repairing the Hubble.

Teams will end up with more film on him and his production will more than likely go down.

Damn, this is a lot of pressure for Thiggy. I hope he doesn't read this board.

Pretty sure thiggy is fucked this weekend. Even against a Saints team that just lost thier best CB. Why?

I picked him up in my fantasy league and he's my no 2 QB starter this week. ROFL

Don't you know Thiggy's joined CP. Every handle with Thigpen in it is ACTUALLY him!

Only Fantasy owners of Drew Brees and Kurt Warner would turn their up noses at Thigpen at this point. I own both in one league.

This forum is filled with the sandy vaginas of yester-year.

Yet, they still bleed.

How pleasant.

I agree with ESPN fantasy dude on this one... another good week for Thiggy. Bad Saints D and LJ in the mix. his first W at home.

I guess I'm going to soften a little on wanting the #1 overall pick in the draft. If Thiggy continues to play like he has, he and the team deserve a few wins. I'm still hoping for a top 5 so lets not go over board.

Teams will end up with more film on him and his production will more than likely go down.

That is the key right there.

How will his play be affected once defensive coordinators get an offseason to study him? Everyone wanted to see if Brady was legit after teams had the time to study him. We won't know until after next year if he's our franchise QB, midseason at best. Herm just bought himself another year (as if he didn't have it already) with the emergence, or false emergence, of Thigpen.
