Actually, I think the outlook is better right after the first of the year. If you can hold out until Jan/Feb 09, things should start to turn a little. Right now, business' are making wholesale decisions to just shut down for the year. Manufacturing is in the fking tank.

I wish you good luck, but I do think you'll find better opportunities in Q1 09.

Now's a great time to buy; shitty time to go job hunting.

I don't envy anyone job hunting right now. You could always do some temp work until after the first of the year, if it will help. How long are you good through on your severence/unemployment?

The place my wife worked went under this week. It may reopen under new ownership, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Sometimes I get uppity at my job, but then I remember that they can always find someone younger, dumber, and that will work longer.

i thought that the growing trend around here was to make a post about leaving every three months, but then lurk for a few weeks, only to post again.

What kind of job do you have? I thought you were a contractor?

I was, but I burned myself out and decided to go back to work for someone else again.

Redrum,

A creative guy who wants to work can always find something to do to get by.

Make an effort every morning, like its your job, to search for one for a couple of hours.

Then, you can do odd jobs to make the greenbacks to pay your bills. Cut wood, scoop snow, handy-man stuff like cleaning gutters are all things this time of year with demand.

If it hasn't frozen down there yet, you can get decent money for hedge balls.(pick them off the tree, not the ground).

Take the pirate ship approach...make your own business.

Think about your skillset and expertise and try to find a way to package that to people interested in those skills.

Totally changed the way I think about everything, it has been fun. I hear there is a recession but I have been to busy with business to notice.
