What is ESPNU?

ESPNU is a television channel that specializes in college sports, and is produced by, affiliated with and owned by parent network ESPN. ESPNU originates out of ESPN Regional Television's Charlotte, North Carolina offices, also the home of ESPN Plus.

History

The network was launched on March 4, 2005 from the site of Gallagher-Iba Arena on the Oklahoma State University Campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The network's first live event was a semi-final game of the Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball tournament that saw Southeast Missouri State University fall to Eastern Kentucky University. The network was launched as a response to upstart rival CSTV (now CBS College Sports Network). ESPN was also being investigated by the U.S. Justice Department due to "warehousing" of college games from certain conferences, or signing a deal with a conference for all their games, but only televising a small number and not allowing the conference to make other arrangements for TV broadcasts.[1]
ESPN and XOS Technologies signed a partnership for college athletics websites to compete directly with CSTV's growing internet presence. On August 28, 2006, ESPNU launched a new SportsCenter spin-off dealing entirely with college sports. That show , called SportsCenterU, was originally scheduled to be broadcast from ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut, but ESPN changed its plans and the show originates from Charlotte.
Mike Hall was the show's lead anchor until August 2007, when he left for the new Big Ten Network. The new anchors are Mike Gleason and Lowell Galindo. They are joined on-set by color commentators that vary with the sports season.
Also, on August 28, 2006, ESPNU premiered ESPNU.com. The website will include Live streaming college sports events, multi-media player dedicated to college sports, podcasts and ESPN Motion clips of studio programming from the ESPNU television network.

Sweet!!! PBJ

Why is that sweet? I have to pay an extra 5 bucks a month to get that channel. KU will have for sure 5 and possibly six games on that channel.

I'm a little outside 38 the Spot's broadcast region. I have a Slingbox, but bandwidth is sometimes questionable.

Is it on Directv?

ESPNU, Channel 614
ESPNU is a college sports initiative across ESPN's family of services. This network features about 300 live events, mostly D-1 football and men's/women's basketball and college sports championships.

Looks to be part of what they call Sports Pack.

We're going to need consistent contributions from players outside of Collins and Aldrich this season, so I'm interested to see who steps up.

Wow, can't believe it's time for basketball already.

It's going to be an interesting season, I'm looking forward to watching the young guys grow and get better. I think Aldrich has the makings of a beast in the middle. His footwork for a big is pretty good.

After watching the two exhibition games you can see that there is a ton of talent on this team, not alot of size overall and they are all pretty green. Mario Little is hurt and is arguably the second best talent we have on the team (behind Collins IMO.) This will be a test of coach Self's abilities for sure but it's nice to have sooo much talent to choose from. Tyshawn Taylor will be very good, the twins will contribute and Quintrell Thomas is this teams future version of Darnell Jackson. Who knows right now what our starting five will be come big12 play? Nobody. This team will make us cuss here and there but they will certainly be fun to watch.

Young and green, a lot of room for improvement. The difference between this game and the Jayhawks at the end of the year is Night and Day.

FTR, don't expect a lot from this bunch this year, it's just year one of rebuilding another championship team.

These guys showed a lot of hustle out there. I like it. Aldrich looks like the man beast he was when he was pwning Tyler Psycho bitch its-all-heart mother fucking Hansboro. Collins looks like a leader, and Markeiff...15 boards....wow.

Blah. Horrible first half, but they came around in the second half. Not sure if we will see another game with the hawks shooting from 3 any worse than that. I was impressed with Tyrel Reed's pull up jumpers. He even went 0-5 from 3, and that isn't going to happen often.
