Cool. I don't care about Lieberman but I like the tone of getting along being set recently.

yep, bipartisanship may have a chance. If McCain gets on board that would be a big deal also.

Lieberman was ungrateful the first time Obama helped save his ass. Let's see how he responds here.

You are never fucking happy. You bitch about things not changing but when something changes then you whine like a girl.

Lieberman once again owes Obama for saving his ass. If it wasn't for Obama saying he had no problem with Lieberman he would be out on his big fat ass.
Lieberman himself, meanwhile, said he was able to keep his slot thanks to Barack Obama, whose recent statement said he held "no grudges" against Lieberman. Lieberman singled out the "appeal by President Obama himself" as a key reason he's staying.

Good for Obama. He's a better man than I am.
I'd be lying if I didn't admit to being a little bitter about the way Leiberman stabbed his party in the back and then acted as if he was a victim.

Thats why he's the/will be POTUS.
We don't need someone we can have a beer with to be POTUS. Hopefully the POTUS is much more intelligent and thoughtful of others than ourselfs.

I suppose it could be argued that Colin Powell and Lieberman both put what they thought was right for the country ahead of their party. I question that with both but, if it actually is the case they should be applauded. Perhaps someday that won't be so rare.

Is that what Lieberman said? If he believed it to be true does that make him a backstabber or a patriot?

On the face of it, one might think that is a legitimate comparison. But I think there was a world of difference in the way each man went about it. Powell made a one time well-reasoned endorsement.
Lieberman defected to the other team, took up arms against his party, parroted the dishonest personal smears against his party's nominee, and campaigned for down-ticket republicans.

Do you mean this?
“In my opinion, the choice could not be more clear: between one candidate, John McCain, who’s had experience, been tested in war and tried in peace, another candidate who has not,’’ Mr. Lieberman said. “Between one candidate, John McCain, who has always put the country first, worked across party lines to get things done, and one candidate who has not. Between one candidate who’s a talker, and the other candidate who’s the leader America needs as our next president.”
Or this
In the case of Mr. McCain, I found that he was a little unsure as to deal with the economic problems that we were having and almost every day there was a different approach to the problem. And that concerned me, sensing that he didn't have a complete grasp of the economic problems that we had. And I was also concerned at the selection of Governor Palin. She's a very distinguished woman, and she's to be admired; but at the same time, now that we have had a chance to watch her for some seven weeks, I don't believe she's ready to be president of the United States, which is the job of the vice president. And so that raised some question in my mind as to the judgment that Senator McCain made

Penchief,
I'm just messing with ya because I think you are allowing your perception of their actions and motivation to be twisted subconsciously by if they were supporting your political party or not. We all do that.
For what it is worth I think both sold out their party for personal reasons and I think Obama probably gave this magnanimous gesture in an attempt to better his image among Jewish voters. I have very little confidence in any of these people doing the right thing, just because it is the right thing. Occasionally the right thing and political expediency collide in a happy coincidence but that is about it.

I hadn't seen where Obama spoke up on Lieberman's behalf. If he did you're right, kudos to him as well. It was the right thing to do and shows he's not as petty as some of the wack jobs posting in this forum.
Some of you could learn something by heeding your candidate's tone. :p

I will confess that I was personally looking for Lieberman to get the boot...I am really big on revenge. :D
That being said, I am glad to see that cooler heads than mine prevailed and true bipartisianship and cooperation might actually have a chance to flourish.:clap::clap:
