So you don't like Aaron Kaumpan I take it? His home town is like 40 min away from where I live right now and it got shit raped by a tornado earlyer in the year... so there were a bunch of Green Gay Packers in the area for Parkersburgs HS football season opener.

I have a feeling we will draft a starter early, Hali will keep his starting job... then Babin and Johnston might be kept around as reserves. Maybe then McBride will be moved back to DT and still play some DE if/when needed... like a Wilkerson role.

I honestly would not be opposed to using two of our first three picks on DE. Using all seven of our picks on the front seven wouldn't be that bad of an idea at this point.

1. DE Brian Orakpo, Texas
2. MLB Brandon Spikes, Florida
3. DE Matt Shaughnessy, Wisconsin
4. DT Dorell Scott, Clemson
5. OLB Mortty Ivy, West Virginia
6. OLB Anthony Felder, California
7. DT John Gill, Northwestern

el oh el

DE: Orakpo, Johnston
DT: Dorsey, Scott, Gill
DT: Tyler, Edwards, Boone
DE: Hali, Shaughnessy

WOLB: Williams, Ivy
MLB: Spikes, Thomas
SOLB: Johnson, Felder

I like Selvie a lot. I know Michael Johnson has all the measurables, but I haven't seen him play much.

Orakpo is another guy who I saw play in the UT-OU game and was impressed.

I don't know that he'll leave school early, but if Jermaine Cunningham leaves Florida he'd be a good speed rusher in the 4th or 5th round. He should stay in school though.

I do not like Tyson Jackson, but Greg Hardy is a player.

Just like with how we have done with the offensive line, I wouldn't be surprised to see us add 1 DE and probably not even in the 1st round and call the problem fixed. Instead of really addressing a problem this team seems to enjoy slowly fixing problem areas which annoys the hell out of me.

You know me, man. I'm a BPA guy.

But, I have to say, that if we take the same approach with the front 7 (DE/MLB/OLB specifically) as we did with the OL in last year's draft THIS year, we're going to suck again, and set the process back, AGAIN.

Should they spend some money in FA?

Sure, if the right guys are there.

But we all know they probably won't.

I'd like to see someone justify using a top three pick on Brian Orakpo. I think he's a good, solid DE prospect and should be a steady player, but I don't see an elite talent, and I certainly don't think he's worthy of such a high pick.

When you look at DEs that were picked early, they have elite production and/or are freakish athletes. Orakpo's production this year is very good, but not eye-popping, and he didn't do much until this season, his 5th year in the Texas system. Also, while insanely strong, no one will put him in the freak athlete category with Peppers, Mario, or even Gaines Adams.

Orakpo fans, state your case.

Matt Shaughnessy reminds me of a bigger Tamba Hali, but he's a third round prospect.

Greg Hardy is a nut job by many accounts. I don't know how coachable he'd be, and he runs a high risk of being a cancer.

eazyb seems down on Orakpo, but he's basically a more polished version of Vernon Gholston. His straight line speed is severely underrated by those rankings in the OP, as by most accounts he runs a 4.6. I'm pretty confident that Orakpo will be the #1 DE off the board on draft day, and is a very good bet to be a top 5 pick. Unless Everette Brown has Dwight Freeney type speed, and he doesn't, he's not going to go in the top 5-8 picks. He's also dominated against good competition in a tough conference, has amazing work ethic, and great strength and moves.

The funny thing about Rak is that he'd kill Krumrie in his slap fight drill, as he's been taking boxing lessons, and he knows how to use his hands very well. He's also used his speed to go around the edge far more than he has just bullrushed guys, so he's got more than one move. Once he gets a truly polished rip and swim move he's going to be very hard to contain.

His biggest knock is that he doesn't have really long arms, which makes it easier for tackles to get into his body, but that's why he took boxing. If he can properly deflect and rip through their moves, he'll be very successful at the next level. He's not Mario Williams, but he definitely has legit 12-14 sack potential.

REALLY like Hardy and Brown.

I'm not sure Orakpo is worth a top 3 pick, but top five? Probably.

My biggest concern with him is that I have the nagging suspicion he might have taken some workout advice from Shawne Merriman and Vernon Davis.

I would stay the hell away from Will Davis. The guy has disappeared this season after being proclaimed the best DE in the Big Televen coming into the season.

Johnson and Orakpo are pretty good values if you're sitting at 5 or 6, I guess.

I know it's a thing DE class when I see Sulak ranked that high. He might be worth a 4th/5th round pick (maybe) as a situational rusher type... but I'm still shocked he's ranked that highly.

I think if he's there in round 3, he should be a serious consideration...I know a lot of folks thought Indy was taking a reach on Bob Sanders a few years back. Most of the Iowa guys that have been drafted in the first 3 rounds have gone on to be pretty quality players in the NFL.

There are some really really good ones coming out this year. As far as I know, Julius Peppers, Terrell Suggs, and Bertrand Berry.

this team needs an impact player. id throw money at Peppers. And draft another passrusher in the draft.

Peppers? Haynesworth? Suggs? Berry? Some Damn good defensive lineman are available! This team needs to make a splash. 30 ****ing million under the cap, 6 total sacks all year, Clark you got some good lineman out there who can help improve that.

If the Chiefs don't make any moves there I'd be very disappointed.

Not the whole draft, at least a few picks should be devoted to Dline. But Im focused on FA as well. i think they should be active there tjis year because there are some damn good defensive lineman and the Chiefs are 30 something million under the cap. Sign a really good Dlineman and draft one with your top pick is fine with me. I think thats what they should do.

I like Orakpo.

Im with you he is not a freakish athlete like Peppers or Williams. Those guys are rare players.

But I consider Orakpo unique in his own way. I think he has a great combination of speed and power. For a guy his size, he is incredibly strong. Which is rare. You don't see many guys with his blend of speed and strength. He is an animal in the weight room and that is good news to hear about a Dlineman coming out. One thing i really like about his game is that he is very elusive and hard to contain.

As far as him being worthy of high pick? It's hard to tell at this point. But I can see him being the best DE coming out. He can definately help a team whether its him being picked 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th overall.
