Price isn't a problem. Where's the best place to get raw oysters and seafood?

Same as Denver - the airport - and thence to Massachusetts.

McCormick & Schmick's? You're not gonna find a hole-in-the-wall with good oysters like you would on a coastal town.

Savoy Grill, might not have them. Any oysters you eat in K.C. Suck. Have a steak.

City Tavern in the Freighthouse District used to have some epic oysters on the half shell.

I haven't been in probably 1 year or so though........

Or, it's probably in VA Beach. I used to go there when I was in the Navy. I always got a huge plate of hot, steamed, spicey shrimp. It was awesome! I haven't been there for 20 years. If I'm ever in the area, and if they're still in business, I'm going!

I grew up on steak. We raised cattle when I was a kid. I love a good steak. But, if I'm going to go out to dinner, I want to order something that I don't get at home.

I haven't been in probably 1 year or so though........ Yes, this is the best place I've been for oysters in KC. They had a wide selection of different oysters, "fresh" from different parts of the country. This is the only place that I can think of that has a good selection of pretty good oysters. I'm sure they have good seafood too. But, when I was there I went out on a limb and ordered something that I wasn't sure if I'd like it or not. I just wanted something different. I don't like ordering the same thing over and over. I like to try and experience new dishes. So, the dish I ordered was probably good for someone else, but not for me. I didn't like it. So, we haven't been back. But, for the oysters, I might have to give it another try.

If you're doing shooters they'd better be fresh (alive), because a raw, dead oyster is toxic and can be fatal. That's why it's the oyster and not the restaurant that will make the difference. Go to a restaurant that has a variety based on the season.

Go to a restaurant that has a variety based on the season. Right. That's what the City Tavern claimed. They say they have different fresh oysters flown in from different parts of the country depending on the season. Supposedly, they're as fresh as we can get here in KC.

I like oysters but not well enough to pay KC prices for them. I'll be in Houston sometime in the next 6 months and I'll make certain to get some while I'm there - for $.50 apiece.

I would argue to the airport and then as close to Apalachicola, FL as you can get.

There used to be a place in Panama City called Rustler's Reef that had them for $1.99/doz raw and $2.99/doz hickory smoked during happy hour. Man, I put some down back in the day there... I worked just down the street.

DT Portland Maine was the best lobster I've ever had. But, that's a whole other thread. VA Beach, Va. was the best spiced shrimp, as I said. Don Shula's steakhouse in Orlando was the best steak I've ever had.
