With Denver winning by this much, I'm going to say that our playoff chances are dead. :( And I really thought that we could make the playoffs at 6-10....

If the Chargers lay down against Oakland Thursday, the Broncos can CLINCH next week.

Is the talent level of the Chargers overrated, or are they simply one of the most gutless teams in the history of the league? Both?

Thus the question...yeti. Do the Chargers lack talent, or are they gutless?

They aren't as good as people thought they were. LT has lost 5 steps, Chris Chambers isn't T.O. and neither is Vincent Jackson. Gates is still Gates, but you can't build an offense around a TE, no matter how good he is. Add to that Rivers and his weirdest-delivery-in-football throwing motion, and you've got a mediocre team.

The defense can't rush the QB without Merroidman. If LT halts his Madden08-esque drop in attributes, the Chargers have a decent shot next year, especially considering the best team in this division plays without a defense.

The Chargers internal statistics with correlate with winning are quite good. They are playing winning football, without winning. I think a lot of it is coaching.

There was a thread last week about how we were still mathematically alive. We just needed Denver to win out, SD to lose every game but 1, and Oakland to win 2 or 3. Then we had to win out, and we could have made the playoffs.
