I bought this movie last year. That's become my new tradition. Each year, my present to myself is buying a Christmas movie. I started with It's a Wonderful Life (my favorite Christmas movie), then A Chipmunk Christmas, last year was A Christmas Story, and this year is Miracle on 34th Street (original version).

Here is how my holiday movie season breaks down like:

The Peanuts shows:classic cartoons from October to mid December

The Rankin-Bass films:"Rudolph" and the entire stop-motion family.

A Christmas Story:A great movie that loses steam because of its' constant replay.

Christmas Vacation:John Hughes scores another hit(writer)

Scrooged:Bill Murry is great....but,dated.

Scrooge a.k.a. "A Christmas Carol" :Henry Winkler(not so much),George C. Scott(decent),Alastair Sims(the BEST Scrooge).

It's a wonderful life:This is my only real holiday tradition.I always wait to wrap presents on Christmas Eve while I watch this movie.

Mine too...I got the DVD a few years back. The look on the moms face is priceless ass the lamp is removed from the box. I love it.

The school in the movie looks just like the grade school I went too. The rooms, the desk, everything. The school room scenes look identical to where I went.

My parents showed it to me in my teens and said this was one of the funniest movies ever.

Later that night I considered divorcing them.
