I have a Canon MX850 printer hooked up to my desktop, which runs Windows XP.
I just got a Macbook Pro over Christmas, and wanted to network the printer to the Mac. I downloaded the driver to the Mac. It sound the printer on my Windows machine, and the installation was successful.
However, when I try to print, I get a 311 error.
Has anyone had trouble like this?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Not real sure what I would need to authenticicate. I'm new to Macs, so I'm learning as I go.

The printer will "bounce" in your dock; click on the job in the queue, click Resume, and it will prompt for credentials (if they are required)

Is your PC the host? If it is you need to allow sharing for the printer. Then on your mac click your printer folder in the settings and click the + button to add if it hasn't scanned for it already.

The PC is the host. I clicked share the printer in the utilities on the PC.
I also added it on the MAC.

Try plugging the printer in the mac directly to see if it works.

It might be easier to hook the printer up to the Mac and set it to share with all the other computers on your network. That's how I have mine networked with my Macs and Windows boxes.
