View Full Version : Football Possibly Least Memorable Super Bowl of All Time

The possibility exists that the 8-8 Chargers could face the 9-7 Cardinals in the "I can't believe we have to call one of these teams 'champion' Super Bowl." I know that a lot of people root for the underdog. People are talking about the Villanova and NC State championships and can't even remember the championship game of last year. Some think its a good thing that these underdogs can reach to the top. Me, I'd rather see my champions as something more than a mediocre team that got hot at the right time.

Actually I would love that Super Bowl.

And as far as the "I can't believe we have to call one of these teams champions" well, one of those teams will have the ring. No one can take that away.

If both teams make it, they would have deserved it.

It would probably be the best possible game, from a viewing standpoint.

Lots of points, probably close.

I don't particularly care to see mediocre teams in the Superbowl; but you can't say that it wouldn't be memorable.

Bolts and Cards are the best because they play in the toughest divisions in football.

...because it is important that our champions get a pass even though they can't beat an 8-8 team.

So what do you propose?

They should just hand out the trophy before the season starts, honestly. We all know who the best teams are.

To me, the super bowl is less of a statement about what team is the best in the NFL during the entire season as it is a statement about what team is best at the END of the season. You have to meet some minimum requirements of non suckage to get there, but in the end, the 16-0 Pats lost to the 10-6 Giants. Since that's the case, I don't have any issue with an 8-8 team in the SB. They won against some very good teams to get there, so at the end of the season, they deserve to be there.

Regardless of who is in it... Herm Edwards still won't be watching it.

Wouldn't the game itself make it (un)memorable and not the teams records?

Sooooooo.... You're in favor of a Bowl system???

JFC dude. First you get in, both those teams did. Then you win out. It's that simple. If these teams win the 4 playoff games, they win. Not complicated.

Offensively, I think it would be quite exciting.

I'd take Kurt Warner and Arizona over the Chargers.

Last year, quite a few people were bitching about the Giants making the bowl and how it would suck, and they wouldn't watch it; and that turned out to be one hell of a game, and a pretty awesome drive at the end by the Giants.

I'll watch whatever the match-up is, it's the last pro football game of the year FFS; you gotta enjoy it while you can.

The only people bitching were people not living on the East Coast

I agree with whoman. Hell, I didn't even want to acknowledge the Giants last year. They weren't the best team in the NFL. At all. Period.

There's nothing I can do, I understand. But it still sucks.

i don't see what the big deal is. maybe because i don't see SD beating pit tomorrow, and if i'm wrong there, they still have to go against a pretty strong baltimore team.

doesn't matter anyways, cause that's the best thing about the playoffs. you gotta show up, and not just rely on a computer to say you are the best.

If the Chargers somehow manage to win the Superbowl does Bowe deserve to receive a SB ring? :doh!:

AZ won't get past the winner of the NYG/PHI game and I believe PIT drops SDC.

The Cardinals aren't that bad of a team. They should have been one more year off, but still. Their defense is crazy fast. They have a lot of young talent. And their offense, well... you know about their offense.

At least it would be easy to decide who to root for. Not sure I could stomach a Chargers SB win:shake:

I'm hoping for a Zona-Diego SB and if the G-Men win I'd love to see Warner come back to NY,knock their ass out and sing "How do you like me now"

How would you change it then?

No Wild Card games?

Only teams that win 11 or more games can make the playoffs??

It's like the NFL overtime rules. It's a shitty method, but there's no real way you can improve it. Coincidentally, the college version ALSO sucks balls.
