The firing of Mike Shanahan. Chiefs fans, we should all be grateful. Bronco fans will go through sideline withdrawal at his exit the way they went through lineup withdrawal when Elway retired.

You see, there is an arrogance among Bronco fans. They think any player can be good if he is a Bronco. They don't realize that players are good because they are good. Elway was special and that's the way it is.

It has been noted that some number of Bronco running backs have had flashes of brilliance when they were plugged into the Bronco system--some truth to that. It will be interesting to see if that system goes away.

Shanahan had become a god in Denver, but it was partly Bowlen's fault. He gave Shanny the moon the last time he reupped his contract. But he momentarily forgot that at the end of the day, it's just business. And no one else should get to be Mr. Big --except Mr. Big.

So now he fired Mike, the last straw was because Mike wouldn't fire one of his coaches. Bowlen was determined to win that pissing party and he did. The rest of the AFC West will be grateful.

Bronco owner has his own arrogance. He apparently forgot about the dimming expressions of Wade Phillips on the sideline as Bronco HC. Or Dan Reeves, of whom no one mile high has anything positive to say.

Bronco owner now must think of head coaches as it is said of running backs in Denver, that it doesn't matter who you plug in, they can shine. Wait until he finds out: there are a lot of lousy or average coaches out there that won't nearly be able to bring home The Trophy.

This'll take probably at least fifteen years or more, and severeal replacements along the way. Mike, I hope you land on your feet as far away from the AFC West as you can. Take your cheap blocking techniques and cooking spray with you.

You've got to be scratching your head if your a Broncos fan. Now they hire this younger, cheaper version of Shanahan as HC. But can he fix the defense?

That's not the issue. The issue is that with McD in town Bowlen and the club have a HC who is willing to let people who know and understand defensive talent bring in that talent and coach them up. Denver needed to fire Shanny the GM/VP/Head man in charge of coffee/HMIC of toiletries/etc and they couldn't get rid of that Shanny and still keep Shanny the head coach.
