View Full Version : Chiefs PFT: "Don't count on Pioli-Schwartz pairing"

In response to a suggestion in some circles that new Chiefs G.M. Scott Pioli might pursue Titans defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz to become the new head coach of the team, a league source tells us that it will not be happening.

Per the source, Pioli and Schwartz “despise each other.”

Though Schwartz looks to be the favorite for the Lions job, his camp could be floating the possibility of Kansas City hiring Schwartz in order to squeeze Detroit into hiring him prematurely and/or giving him a better deal.

That said, it’s our understanding that the Chiefs are not and will not be an option for him.

I don't want Jim Schwartz anyway.

If the Chiefs are going to go the defensive coordinator route to find their next head coach... Spagnoulo is the guy I prefer.

Note to self.

Cross Spagnoulo off my wish list.

You two, don't start. I WILL pull this message board over, and believe me, we don't want that!

Very interesting. Sucks if true, because Schwartz and Spags are my top two choices, and this would eliminate one from consideration.

Have they worked together before? I'm too lazy to go look it up.

I just looked and don't see anywhere that that careers paths have crossed.

They worked together for three years in Cleveland and one in Baltimore.

That's plenty of time to work up a good hate.

Michael Smith on possible coaches (on 810 right now).

Ferentz
Spagnoulo
Houston Nutt (his curveball answer)

When asked about Rex Ryan: 'not that I know of', although he thinks he should be a candidate

If Schwartz has been mentioned, I didn't catch it.

(ooh, and he expects Gonzalez to be traded "let me put it this way, if you want to buy an 88 jersey, i'd wait a while, they may be on sale soon, if you know what i mean, although I wouldn't be totally surprised if he came back to win some games)

Did he mention whether he thought Ferentz would leave Iowa?

The rumors in the NYC area are that the Jets are now leaning strongly toward Rex Ryan as head coach. There is still some interest in Spagnuolo.
