Looks pretty cool. I'll have to check this out...

I use Plex as a media center. Have you heard of it? It used to be Xbox Media Center (XBMC), which was ported to the Mac. It kicks a whole lot of ass.... not sure how it compares with Boxee, but I'll check it out and see.

I had never heard of Plex... but boxee is based on XBMC, so far I really like it

I have canceled my TV service and just plan on using this with Torrents

I may have to download this onto our home mac. My son is obsessed with watching youtube music videos of people playing live music. I let him do that while I'm cooking a lot of times, so it might be nice to be able to control some of that a little easier and with remote.

These 2 sound eerily similar....

And after looking into this a bit, they really are. They both do the same basic things. Boxee looks to have a few more options though, for social networking stuff.

Here's a good rundown of both: http://angryrobot.ca/2008/11/25/mac-mini-media-center-update-plex-and-boxee

A good friend of mine set up a Mac mini with Plex, and has it routed to his 52" TV. To see it in action will just knock your socks off... He has his Harmony remote configured to completely control everything in Plex. It's media organization is top notch. Makes it very easy to access just about any media you have, wherever you have it. It's very fast, amazingly customizable, and hands down blows away other "media center" programs. There are so many little things that will make you scratch your head and wonder why everyone doesn't use this.

thats almost how i feel with boxee-

the money I save from paying the TV bill each month will enable me to build one bad ass media center box
