If you still dig the 80's metal, this event would be worth the trek. Heck, this is only 25 miles from my hometown....

Rock Gone Wild (http://www.rockgonewild.com/)

50 bands over 4 days. Notables include Skid Row, Kix, Lizzy Borden, Saigon Kick, Great White (without the pyrotechics I'll bet), Candlebox, Saxon, Helix, Puddle of Mudd, and about 40 others....

Junkyard!

Hell yeah! That's life, in Hollywood.

How far away is Algona from KC anyway?

I'd go to see Lizzy Borden and Saigon Kick. They'd be worth the price of admission alone. Candlebox, too. Skid Row would probably be pretty good, though I'm skeptical of them without SB. Helix would have been good back when they had the classic lineup, but now that Brian Vollmer is the only remaining member, I dunno. Saxon was vital in the old days, but I caught them in a one-offer a few years back, and they strike me as one of the bands that should have called it quits long ago. The rest I could take 'em or leave 'em.

Skid Row freaking shreds without SB...

And SB's band can bring the fucking house down...

Nice! I've been meaning to make it up there for Hobo-Fest. Ever since I saw it as a top summer activity in Maxim, my interest has been peaked. How is it? Good time?

I grew up in Manchester, and now in Cedar Rapids, I wouldn't mind making the drive it were worth while.

It would be nice if they would update their free ticket winners page. Bob Dole needs to make travel plans as far in advance as possible.
