View Full Version : U.S. Issues The Pork Package: The Audacity of Moonbat Greed

From moonbattery.com:
For the next 1,000 years, historians will look back and wonder what happened to this country that its people would turn over the government to greedy socialist pigs like Obama, Reid, and Pelosi, whose farcical "stimulus package" may literally bankrupt our entire society. This gargantuan pile of pork, which only a drooling mental defective could believe would stimulate the economy, represents a 40-year wish list for the ultra-left, which now has control of how our money is spent. The Wall Street Journal is aghast at this demented spending spree:
There's $1 billion for Amtrak, the federal railroad that hasn't turned a profit in 40 years; $2 billion for child-care subsidies; $50 million for that great engine of job creation, the National Endowment for the Arts; $400 million for global-warming research and another $2.4 billion for carbon-capture demonstration projects. There's even $650 million on top of the billions already doled out to pay for digital TV conversion coupons.
How is any of this foolishness going to help end the recession? It's not, obviously. The intention is to prolong and deepen the recession, to justify still more wasteful spending and government expansion. To quote The Anointed One's slimy Chicago sidekick Rahm Emanuel:
Never let a serious crisis go to waste. What I mean by that is it's an opportunity to do things you couldn't do before.
Infrastructure projects won't help us out of the recession, but at least they are constructive. However, these constitute only a tiny portion of the "stimulus" extravaganza, as do business tax cuts. The WSJ observes that only
about 12 cents of every $1 … is for something that can plausibly be considered a growth stimulus.
Billions will be spent on projects that have a negative return on investment, such as politically correct but economically insane alternative energy and mass transit boondoggles. While we're left with the light rail, $600 million will be spent on new cars for bureaucrats. But that's nothing compared to the $7 billion earmarked for "modernizing federal buildings and facilities."
Then there's the $252 billion in "income-transfer payments" — i.e., free money for the essential Democrat constituency, parasites who expect to be paid to do nothing.
"Accountability" is a word Dems have learned to parrot without having a clue what it means. How's this for accountability:
$54 billion will go to federal programs that the Office of Management and Budget or the Government Accountability Office have already criticized as "ineffective" or unable to pass basic financial audits.
Creeping socialism works like a ratchet. Government spending can be raised, but it is almost impossible to lower. Thus this grotesque orgy of unaffordable pork will serve as a baseline budget for all time — or rather, until the entire system collapses into insolvency à la the Soviet Union.

September 11, 2008
Seven Years Later
Seven years down the road, there's good news and bad news. The good: by taking the fight to the Middle East where it came from, President Bush has spared us from another significant terror attack, and even before the success of the surge, al Qaeda was on the ropes. The bad: al Qaeda's allies dominate the media, and may even get revenge for all those flags they had to look at after 9/11 by installing Barack Obama in the White House.
Despite the tremendous gains that have been made against al Qaeda, the obnoxiously liberal Arizona Republic celebrates today's date by running this as their lead story:
7 years after 9/11 terrorist attacks, al-Qaeda still unbowed
The Repugnant accurately depicts the struggle with Muslim terrorists as an information war, and falsely gloats that their side is winning:
The insurgents' strategy has two major goals: to erode popular support for the U.S.-backed governments in Islamabad and Kabul and to undermine popular backing in the United States and allied countries for continuing the mission in Afghanistan.
They appear to be succeeding, with recent polls in Britain, France, Holland and Canada indicating majorities favoring troop withdrawals.
Thanks to our enemy within, the tragedy of 9/11 continues to unfold. If we allow it to, the complete story could play out like this:
http://www.moonbattery.com/archives/nuclear_blast.jpg
If only elections were held on September 11, there would be much less chance of this coming true.

It's clearly a form of censorship when people argue for someone to be banned. We each have ample tools at our disposal to ignore posters we don't like. But that's not enough for some people. They need to get people banned so that no one can read what their target has to type. SHTSPRAYER's Magic Negro thread was a good example, IMO.

There's this insane, shuffling homeless guy standing on the corner, yelling and screaming, carrying a cardboard sign. The writing on the sign is crazy, and the guy smells really bad and yells the same mad words over and over to anybody who'll listen. Other people move away and try not to make eye contact, but dammit, I happen to agree with some of the things on the sign. By God, this guy's alright! Then one day he wanders into my favorite bar. The other patrons are freaked out by the madness, deafened by the screaming, and nauseated by the stench, but when they try to get the guy to leave, I accuse them of being mean-spirited censors.

Either that or your cursory check of 3 online dictionaries was just a research failure. Here's the answer (http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=19364&only):
moonbat - An unthinking or insane leftist — in other words, most modern leftists. Moonbat can also be used as an adjective, e.g. a moonbat professor. According to the Wikipedia entry for moonbat, the word was coined in 2002 by the Editor of Samizdata, Perry de Havilland, and was a variation on the name of radical British activist and columnist George Monbiot. Originally, the term “moonbat” was intended to be more politically neutral, and described wackos on the left and the right, but it quickly acquired its current usage of being applied almost exclusively to those on the left. The term also references the moon much in the same way that “lunatic” refers to the insanity-causing powers of the full moon (luna = moon).

I gave you your answer. You can pretend that the word doesn't exist or that it isn't used the way it is used because it hasn't been accepted by "real dictionaries" but you'll be wrong.

The $350B stimulus the Democrats issued in 2008 was the precursor to the largest recession in decades. Then we had the $700B save the banks movement in late 2008. Now we need a Trillion of pork to pull us out of the recession in early 2009, which the first Trillion was supposed to prevent.
The Republican Congress and their spending spree is a fraction of the free spending of the Democratic Congress since 2006. The Democrats are raising the bar while the swap just gets deeper. :banghead:

Real jobs, ones that can be sustained for a meaningful length of time, are created by direct investment to meet demand for goods and services.
How many investors are investing right now? When did they start to pull the plug in mass? Oh, right about the time that they were forcing the TARP down our throats. Remember that dragon queen up their bitching about spending it?
