Exactly. Legalize it, regulate it, tax it. Big source of income that will reduce wasteful court costs, not to mention reduce violence (since dope dealers will be irrelevant).

You would load him a fresh bowl... and that would be it. I have a friend like that, Moser... he used to play the trumbone and his lungs are unreal... when a bowl could be passed between us 3-5 times, it ends up, like 2 hits each and the last one is ash. Pot vacuum.

I honestly don't know, Mr. greg63. Like you, I rarely watch television. I typically get my news from the internet thing or through conversation with others. Then, I evaluate the validity of any breaking stories based simply on reports of the amount of stubble on Mr. Mr. Flopnuts' marble bag.

[One party-goer who witnessed the star’s behaviour told the News of the World: “He was out of control from the moment he got there.

“If he continues to party like that I’d be amazed if he ever won any more medals again.”

“He didn’t know many people so you’d think he’d be a little shy. But he was loud, obnoxious and slamming beers from the get-go.

“Every girl wanted a piece of him and every guy wanted to be his best buddy. He couldn’t get enough of all the attention.” ]

Kinda like the douchebag getting off on giving an "exclusive" to some tabloid hacks.

Dude, I was just going to post the same thing after seeing it on the news.

One of my very close friends got married last year and we all went to Atlantic City, stayed overnight and got a penthouse at the Borgata. The wife to be's brother in law wound up coming along and kept taking pictures with his cell phone.

Not a big deal till around 1am rolls around we're done gambling and head back to the room for the grand finale. What does this stupid mother ****er do about an hour later but breaks out his $500 cell phone and start taking pictures.

Chris one of the guys there in the 'known each other for 20+ years club' takes the phone, makes him find and delete all the pics and says "one more time I'm going to shove it up your ass". This guy is easily 6' 3" 310.

Two shots of tequila and a bong hit later ****er breaks his phone again and starts taking pictures. Sim card gets ripped out, phone smashed into dust with an empty Jamison bottle and they had that ****er hanging from the fire escape stairs by his feet. If they would have dropped him no way he would have lived. None.

He ran out and we didn't see him till the wedding which he promptly left after ceremonies.

See, this is the kind of support group you need in life.

Olympic great Michael Phelps (http://search.breitbart.com/q?s=Michael+Phelps&sid=breitbart.com) acknowledged "regrettable" behavior and "bad judgment" after a photo in a British newspaper Sunday showed him inhaling from a marijuana pipe.

In a statement released to The Associated Press, the swimmer who won a record eight gold medals at the Beijing Games did not dispute the authenticity of the exclusive picture published Sunday by the tabloid News of the World.

"I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgment," Phelps said. "I'm 23 years old and despite the successes I've had in the pool, I acted in a youthful and inappropriate way, not in a manner people have come to expect from me. For this, I am sorry. I promise my fans and the public it will not happen again."

News of the World said the picture was taken during a November house party while Phelps was visiting the University of South Carolina. (http://search.breitbart.com/q?s=South+Carolina&sid=breitbart.com) During that trip, he attended one of the school's football games and received a big ovation when he was introduced to the crowd.

While the newspaper did not specifically allege that Phelps was smoking pot, it did say the pipe is generally used for that purpose and anonymously quoted a partygoer who said the Olympic champion was "out of control from the moment he got there."

The party occurred nearly three months after the Olympics, while Phelps was taking a long break from training, and apparently would have no impact on the eight golds he won at Beijing. He has never tested positive for banned substances and even agreed to extra testing before the games.

Phelps was in Tampa, Fla., during Super Bowl week to make promotional appearances on behalf of a sponsor. But he left the city before Sunday's game between the Pittsburgh Steelers (http://search.breitbart.com/q?s=Pittsburgh+Steelers&sid=breitbart.com) and Arizona Cardinals, abandoning his original plan to be at Raymond James Stadium.
Phelps returned to the pool a couple of weeks ago to begin preparations for this summer's world championships in Rome. He plans to take part in his first post-Olympics meet in early March, a Grand Prix event in Austin, Texas.

This isn't the first embarrassing episode for Phelps after an Olympic triumph. In 2004, a few months after winning six gold and two bronze medals in Athens, the swimmer was arrested on a drunken driving charge at age 19. He pleaded guilty and apologized for the mistake.

In his book "No Limits: The Will to Succeed," Phelps recounted how his first phone call was to his agent, and not his mother or coach Bob Bowman, because he knew they would yell at him.

Later, he called Bowman, who was supportive but told him, "Michael, just because you want to blow off some steam doesn't mean you can be an idiot."

Debbie Phelps, his mother, cried at the news.

"That hurt worse, maybe, than anything," Phelps wrote. "I had never seen my mother that upset."

Bowman did not immediately respond to phone and e-mail messages Sunday.

Olympic teammate Dara Torres said Phelps has become such a prominent figure that everything he does is news.
However, she said: "This in no way shape or form diminishes anything he's done."

"It's sort of a double-edged sword," Torres told the AP on Sunday. "When you're recognizable, you're looked up to as a role model. He is recognizable and everything you do gets looked at and picked apart. I guess that's the price of winning 14 Olympic medals."

Jason Lezak, whose remarkable anchor leg of the 400-meter freestyle relay helped Phelps stay on course to break Mark Spitz's record in Beijing, said he was "saddened" to hear of the report.

"While I don't condone his conduct, I am a teammate and fan," Lezak said in a text message to the AP on Saturday night. "Unlike many fair-weather people, I am sticking by him. If my wife and I can help him in any way, we will. I believe he will grow from this and be better person, role model and teammate."

Meh.

Not too worried about the perception some have of me on this site...Phelps is a big name Olympic Hero...he should have known better. Smoke all the weed you want, but you better god damn expect someone to snap that photo at a gigantic, college house party...Every 19-25 year old girl carries around her digital camera these days...it's annoying as shit. Shit, half of the dudes I see carry a camera as well...

If someone said to me...take a picture of that dude hitting that bong and I'll give you $100K, shit, even $1,000...I'd do it no problem. I'm a big proponent of laziness...I've wanted to stumble over a large amount of money for years so I could lay around all day and play video games...but I don't see that happening...

I would not have been inclined to take a picture of him unless he said "take my picture," which he clearly didn't in this instance. Just out of curiosity saggysack, do you have many people in your life that you trust? As in "here's the keys to my house, lock the place up before you leave".

I'm consider myself pretty lucky in that aspect and one of the reasons is because I don't do this kind of thing to people. There is a reason people trust me and doing things like selling a picture of Phleps doing a bong hit at a party is taboo.

Karma is a bitch brother.

I've done stuff wish I could take back, I'm not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.

If you think the guy who sold that picture is sitting pretty on top of a lump of cash I'd would be willing to bet you otherwise. That person probably isolated himself by everyone who knows who he/she is and they won't have him their lives anymore.

Just something to think about.

It's probably a stupid reason to be arguing but it's a microcosm of the "why". Lead your life as you see fit, I'm just trying to give you insight.

For some people, respect and honor is still more valuable than money. You say you have no allegiance to someone like Michael Phelps, but you go on to say you'd sell a pic for $5 if it came down to it. That shows exactly where your allegiance lies. Your allegiance is to money, and doing anything to acquire it. There are several terms for that type of allegiance...

Well the Dean Martin thing was a joke. :)

And as far as drug testing, people don't want you currently on drugs while working, true. But this country is so closeted about its drug use it's ridiculous. Most people I know, older folks included, has at least tried weed or some other illegal drug. (And that's just who would admit to it.) I think this situation is a lot like the current financial situation that we are in.

CEO's of America's financial companies have destroyed trillions of $ of wealth in order to line their pockets with millions. America would be far better off it those CEOs had robbed each of us personally at gun point than pull the crap that they did.

Who ever sold that picture destroyed (potentially) millions of $ of Michael Phelps wealth in order to line their pockets with a few thousand bucks. Phelps would have been better off if the guy would have robbed him at gun point and got out with $50K.

That is about all you need to know about the morality of both situations. If I have to intentionally and directly screw someone over to make a buck, it just isn't worth it to me. There are plenty of other ways for me to earn a living.

Respect and honor are qualities. Not something you choose to use for specific situations or people.

It doesn't matter if Phelps could afford it or not. What matters is you would choose to take advantage of someone else if it meant some money in your pocket. And the fact that you justify it so easily is telling.

You people who would take a picture of Michael Phelps hitting the bong and selling it to the highest bidding newspaper are amateur scumbags............

Everybody knows you send a copy of the photo to Phelps through the mail with a note reminding him how much money he stands to lose in endorsements should the photo be released to the media. You then try get an estimate from Phelps as to how much in $$$$ his public reputation is to him.
