NBC might want to trot Matt Millen out in front of the cameras like nothing ever happened, but WDIV, NBC's affiliate in Detroit, isn't about to forgive or forget what he did to the Lions. From the Detroit Free Press:

Every time a certain familiar face showed up on camera Sunday during NBC's Super Bowl pregame show, Channel 4 ran a scroll at the bottom of the screen:

"Matt Millen was president of the Lions for the worst eight-year run in the history of the NFL. Knowing his history with the team, is there a credibility issue as he now serves as an analyst for NBC Sports?"

I really think that his failure as a GM has nothing to do with whether he can be a quality analyst or not. I highly doubt Bob Costas would be worth two shits as a GM, and although he sucks as an analyst, that is not the reason.

They should just flash "EPIC FAIL!" every time he's on screen.

It's amazing to realize that the two of them combined wouldn't make a Ray Rhodes.

I agree.

But perception is reality.

Speaking of reality, he's also epically shitty when he's responsible for making actual choices, which speaks to his ability to analyze accurately difficult problems, which is quite a tricky situation when his current job title is "analyst."

Expository prose...

I've just convinced myself otherwise.

Honestly, I could never understand why NBC had him part of the broadcasting deal. That was just horrible management.

It is pretty hard to accept a guy's opinion that failed as hard as he did.

Yep. Maybe he'd be better at providing color commentary, something else.

But it's impossible for him to criticize the decision making of any organization given the complete dumbassery that he's demonstrated when he actually was making his own choices.

It would be like Nick Athan hosting the annual spelling bee on ESPN.

I can't believe more of you aren't surprised by the fact that a television station was scrolling that across the bottom of the screen.

I've never heard of anything like that before.

I'm surprised.

But if an entire city was repeatedly fucked in the ass by a single dipshit, it's ok for the victimized city to brand him with a scarlet letter for a time, IMO.

From the crawl..."Can Detroit fans forgive him for making the Lions the worst team in the NFL?"

So, they are saying they weren't the worst team in the NFL before Millen came?

I think for the chiefs the crawl should be at least we're not oakland.

I mean, couldn't they wait about 5 years before letting Millen join the team? They get what they deserve here. And now Herm has a broadcasting job!

Perhaps they could have guests like Marty Mornhinweg, Steve Mariucci, and Rod Marinelli as guests. It could be a reality show about how to make millions despite being dismal failures. They could even go on the motivational speaker circuit.

The station clarified that those were fans comments. I'm not surprised at all. Millen flat out deserves it, and if you want a Disney sequel to the Kurt Warner story, karmic justice would be Millen stocking groceries 3 years from now.
