CHIEFS HAVE COMPLIED WITH ROONEY RULE?
Posted by Mike Florio on February 4, 2009, 12:01 p.m.

As the Kansas City Chiefs continue to engage in one of the most secretive job searches in NFL history, some basic information has emerged regarding the process.

According to Nick Athan of Warpaint Illustrated, Chiefs owner Clark Hunt recently told a Kansas City radio station that the team has complied with the Rooney Rule, and that Hunt is “pleased” with the candidates who have been interviewed to date.

If, then, the Rooney Rule has been satisfied, the Chiefs are free to interview and hire Cardinals offensive coordinator Todd Haley without interviewing now or in the future any futher minority candidates.

But it’s impossible to know whether Haley is the leading candidate without knowing who the other candidates might be.

And, apparently, we won’t know any of their names, since the Chiefs presumably told them that, if any of their names emerge during the process, the team will assume that the candidate whose name emerges is responsible for the leak — and that the candidate will be disqualified from consideration.

This is the same interview that was posted yesterday.

Clark did say they have already interviewed candidates and he has been pleased with the quality of the candidates, and I believe he did mention that they had complied with the Rooney Rule.

Nick is just reporting something that was already posted here.

Nothing new to see, move along.

So ... if a candidate's name is floated, that candidate is removed from consideration?

That means that Haley is out along with everybody else we've discussed. Maybe we're hiring the Pillsbury Dough Boy. We could do worse, I guess. Heck of a blocker, that dough boy.

I don't think we were doubting that we would try and do it. We were worried that we wouldn't be able to find some stupid minority to interview because it's been reported that we've been locked onto Haley. And they're not stupid because they're a minority, they're stupid because they'd be interviewing for a job which they couldn't get.

If the new HC comes in and blows it all up, then who is left to hire. I saw that the PATS hired 3 new ones yesterday or the day before. I think Piloi's boy Bill knows who is good. Well, guess what those 3 guys are with Bill now.

This makes no sense. How does someone act like a drama queen when they don't make a big show of everything they're doing?

Here's the definition of a drama queen per Urban Dictionary:

Someone who turns something unimportant into a major deal. Someone who blows things way out of proportion when ever the chance is given.

I'd say that this is perfect. Scott Pioli isn't turning something insignificant into a big deal. He's treating a BIG DEAL like a BIG FUCKING DEAL! This is our HC for the next 3-whenever years. This decision is huge and you're just pissed off because you don't know what's going on. Are you a KC Star reporter?
