12:26 a.m. Broncos expected to acquire two RBs
Running backs Correll Buckhalter (Philadelphia) and J.J. Arrington (Arizona) have agreed to multiyear contracts with the Denver Broncos. The deals will become official when both pass physical exams.

Buckhalter can be considered a frontrunner for a starting spot, while Arrington is likely to fill a niche as a third-down specialist and kickoff returner.

DAMNIT SCOTT! :-)

Though it is interesting how they could already be signing people when there's supposed to be no interaction before deadline...

It's not like they signed anyone important...oft injured and 3rd stringers don't garner that much interest.

I'd swear I heard John Clayton say this wasn't true, but I wasn't really paying that much attention.

If these are the RBs they sign... I'm not impressed. They've already got an injury prone young guy (Torrain) and a nice option with Hillis (also injured), just go get Ward.

Philadelphia safety Brian Dawkins, Cleveland linebacker Andra Davis and Miami safety Reynaldo Hill are taking free-agent visits with Denver, sources told FOXSports.com.

Dawkins is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection who was a mainstay in Philadelphia's defense since being drafted in 1996. A combination of Dawkins' age (he turns 36 in October) and contract demands could lead to his departure from the Eagles.

Cleveland linebacker Andra Davis and Miami safety Renaldo Hill are taking free-agent visits with Denver.

Davis has started 83 of a possible 96 games the past six seasons in Cleveland at inside linebacker. With the Broncos switching to a 3-4 defense, Davis would be considered a strong candidate to start if signed.

Hill was a three-year starter with the Dolphins but finds himself the odd man out with the franchise having added veteran Gibril Wilson and re-signing Yeremiah Bell. A former starter in Arizona and Oakland, Hill also has experience playing in a 3-4 scheme.

I like the Arrington signing, he could be a nice back in McDaniel's offense.

I think he'll be more of special teams/kick returner guy. Maybe a passing down 3rd RB. I could be wrong.

After 13 years with the Eagles, safety Brian Dawkins will have a new home.

David White of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Dawkins has agreed to terms with the Broncos.

Dawkins, 35, had said during the season that he thought he'd work out a deal to end his career in Philly. It could still happen, but only after a stint with the Broncos

Let\'s see if they can make the Ray Lewis thing happen.

The Broncos havent had a winning season in two years, they are looking at old overpriced vets 3-4 years north of 30, and that means they are in WIN NOW mode?

When did Carl take over the operation?

They know the next decade they will be fighting for 2nd place in the AFC West. Might as well win now when they have a chance.

6:48 a.m. — Broncos have deal with DT Reid
A source told FOXSports.com that Denver has reached a contract agreement with Indianapolis defensive tackle Darrell Reid, raising the number of free agents the team added Friday to an NFL-high six.

The 6-foot-2, 288-pound Reid was a backup defensive lineman with the Colts during his first four NFL seasons. He also contributed on special teams and as a short-yardage fullback.

Last month, Reid was arrested on disorderly conduct and trespassing charges for allegedly refusing to leave the parking lot of an Indianapolis nightclub. The charges were later dropped.

The Broncos also have signed safety Renaldo Hill (Miami), wide receiver Jabar Gaffney (New England), long snapper Lonie Paxton (New England), and running backs Correll Buckhalter (Philadelphia) and J.J. Arrington (Arizona).

Brian Dawkins could be next. The seven-time Pro Bowl safety is visiting with Broncos officials after failing to reach a new contract with Philadelphia.

The Broncos also signed Houston wide receiver Charlie Anderson to an offer sheet as a restricted free agent, the Denver Post reported. The Texans will receive Denver's 2009 seventh-round draft pick if opting not to match the contract.

Source: Brian Dawkins
Joins Broncos

- A source has told Fox 29 News that Brian Dawkins has signed a deal with the Denver Broncos.

The signing was first reported on the San Francisco Chronicle Web site.

Fox 29 spoke with a second source in Denver to confirm that report.

Dawkins has been with the Eagles since 1996 and was the acknowledged leader of the team.

The Eagles now face a publicity nightmare after letting Dawkins go while sitting on more that $40 million in salary cap money.

The Eagles are expected to make a contract offer to Stacy Andrews, the brother of Shawn Andrews.
But the team isn't expected to pursue other high-priced free agents.

Also, it looks like former Eagles players Correll Buckhalter and L.J. Smith might have new homes.

Buckhalter is also meeting with the Broncos, while L.J. Smith is in Atlanta talking with the Falcons.
If the Eagles sign Stacy Andrews, it would likely end the Eagles' career of Jon Runyan, since Andrews and Runyan play the same position.

Former Eagles tackle Tra Thomas remains unsigned.

Ooooops. Now their backing off

Report: Brian Dawkins
Not Gone Yet

- There are now conficting reports about former Eagles safety Brian Dawkins joining the Denver Broncos.

The same San Francisco Chronicle reporter who broke the news of Dawkins' signing with Denver said Friday night that Dawkins' agent contacted him, and the agent said that deal was not final.

However, the reporter insisted his first source was reliable. Fox 29 also contacted a source in Denver who verified the Chronicle account.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on Saturday that Dawkins, 35, was at the Denver Nuggets basketball game Friday night, and the paper had been told that the Dawkins deal was not final.

An NFL.com report also said that Dawkins had not signed yet with the Broncos.

Fox 29 will be monitoring all media outlets and sources throughout the day.

On Saturday, the Eagles are expected to make a contract offer to Stacy Andrews, the brother of Shawn Andrews.

Also, it looks like former Eagles players Lito Sheppard, Correll Buckhalter, Seam Considine and L.J. Smith have new homes.

Buckhalter is signing with the Broncos, while L.J. Smith is in Atlanta talking with the Falcons. Sheppard will be traded to the New York Jets, pending a physical. Considine has signed a deal in Jacksonville.

If the Eagles sign Stacy Andrews, it would likely end the Eagles' career of Jon Runyan, since Andrews and Runyan play the same position.

Former Eagles tackle Tra Thomas remains unsigned.
