Broncos give ex-Dolphins CB Goodman five-year deal
Posted: March 1st, 2009 | Adam Schefter

The Denver Broncos and free-agent CB Andre’ Goodman agreed Sunday night to a five-year, $25 million contract that includes over $10 million in guaranteed money.

Goodman is a seven-year NFL veteran who started all 16 regular-season games for the Miami Dolphins last season and had a team-high five interceptions.

I see all of these signings, and not one of them has me concerned in the least bit.

Broncos are clearly scared of the Mighty Cassel.

Most Miami fans did not want Goodman retained.

The broncos are eating up a lot of cap room with a lot of nobody's. It might work out for them I guess, but it's a bit odd.

I guess they can't be any worse?

They don't believe you can win with 22 guys off the street like some do.

They dropped Dre Bly for this guy?

Why is the FA Signings thread no longer sticky? Did someone clean it?

Age and money.

Has anyone expressed any interest in Bly, yet? I haven't heard anything.

Yeah, but are these guys really that better than "guys off the street"?

This Goodman started 16 games for a playoff team, and had 5 interceptions. He's not dogfood.

Not that I've heard. I suspect he'll be one of those late June/early July signings for someone.

Besides Dawkins, most of these guys belonged on the street.

I'm past not being concerned, I'm enjoying seeing them throw all their money at a bunch of nobody's. They aren't even signing young guys, most of their signings haven't done crap in the league for multiple seasons. Denver must think that quantity edges quality. McDaniels/Xanders is currently my second favorite football operations combo in the league, they have pulled a lot of questionable moves in since midnight Friday.

Eric Warfield started 16 games for a playoff team in 2003.

What's your point?

All of your corners are shit until you fix the front four.

I think Miami's defense was a little better than that 2003 Chiefs team.

The only signing i like is Dawkins, if he was younger but he will be solid probably for atleast 2 more years

So how long before McDaniels pisses him off by offering to trade him in a three way deal for DeAngelo Hall and draft picks?

I think they can probably get some good LBs. DLine may have to wait.

Goodman was probably aided by Porter and co harassing the QB. I don't know if Denver's D will give him that support, certainly he'd be eaten alive on our 10 sack D...

Dolphins lose key defender Goodman to Broncos

March 1, 2009 8:22 PM

Posted by ESPN.com's Tim Graham

The Miami Dolphins need a cornerback for sure.

Andre Goodman has accepted a five-year, $25 million deal to play for the Denver Broncos, joining Renaldo Hill as starters from last year's secondary that have gone Mile High.

Goodman was Miami's right cornerback for all 16 games last year. He led the club with five interceptions and 19 passes defensed.

The Dolphins headed toward free agency with several decisions to make in the secondary. Three of their four starters had contracts that were about to expire. The Dolphins re-signed strong safety Yeremiah Bell and picked up free safety Gibril Wilson, choosing to let last year's starter, Hill, drift away.

But Goodman seemed like a player the Dolphins wanted to keep. Not only was he critical to their pass defense, but he was popular in the locker room. He informed the Miami Herald in a text message this weekend he still might re-sign with them.

Because of their pass rush.

Not because Andre Goodman or Will Smith could cover worth a shit.

McDaniels saw alot of film gameplanning them the last two years...

... and everybody knows he likes to stick to familiar players. ;)
