View Full Version : Misc Lump under my armpit

luv

Okay. For the past three or four months, whenever I shave, I've noticed that I have this lump underneath my right armpit that's about the size of a pea. I never paid it much attention, because it never hurt or anything. This evening, I noticed that it feels a bit bigger, and it's slightly sore to the touch. I decided to look it up on Google. I'm not liking what I'm reading. It's could be anything from bacterial to cancerous. Needless to say, I'm going to be making a doctor's appointment in the near future to get it checked out. I'm just a little freaked, I guess. Cancer has been really prevalent on my dad's side of the family.

EDIT: Doctor's appointment Thursday morning.

WTF have you waited 3 or 4 months to check it? Get it checked sooner rather than later. Could be as insignificant as a little mole, but it's better to know for sure. Don't wait around.

Probably a swollen lymph node. I'd see the doctor. Then again it may be nothing.

I'd almost guarantee it's bacterial. Sensitive area, combined with shaving it makes that the likely choice. It couldn't hurt to get it checked, and you should err on the side of caution but I wouldn't freak out or anything.

Not saying it is the same as I had 10 years ago, but nothing showed outside the skin then, either. just a huge lump under the skin that hurt like hell, so I got pissed and smashed the fucker.

Probably it is nothing more than a sebaceous cyst, or a clogged sweat gland. By all means, get it checked out, though. Most of the time the lumps that are cause for concern (ie:lymph nodes) are not painful to the touch. And usually a bit larger. JMO

It is probably nothing but is nothing to fool with. If it is a lymph node it is swelling up for a reason.

I'm not going to say this again, Ms. luv, but our nightmare began with an innocent, little lump that turned out to be a lymph node which is where thyroid cancer lodges once it gets into the lymphatic system.

I had an epic zit pop a few days ago. A little bit of a whitehead came out of a similarly described lump just above my right nipple. When I noticed it still felt full, I kept squeezing. Two chunks came out yellow, pressed further then a jet of white and red smacked the shower. It felt liberating.

The "best" zit I had was in 6/7th grade. Huge think on the right side tip of my nose. Annoyed my dad so much he got ahold of me in our foyer and pressed on it for about a minute or so until a huge mass arced skyward then plopped on the floor. Left a scar.

Maybe you'll be fortunate enough to get a giant boil at some point. I've only had one really horrible one, but it was the size of a fucking orange, right next to my junk. Extremely painful. Could barely walk, missed nearly a week of work. Basically the only think you can do is keep heat on it and let it run its course. When it finally popped, enough pus came out to fill two or three shot glasses. Smelled like really stinky feet. Gross, but the instant absence of pain and pressure was wonderful.

You'd love it.

Started as a zit. I tried to pop it before it was ready and it got infected - then it just ballooned. That was 10 years ago, never had another one; of course, now when I think I might I take steps to deal with it correctly (application of heat, limit movement) right away.

Honestly, I don't know. I hopped on one leg into the shower when I felt it start to go, so that I wouldn't make a mess all over the house. I was so grossed out by the smell (made worse, I'm sure by the warm dampess from the water) that I wasn't going to look at it. I could feel it running down my leg though. Ugh.

Dude, you're f*ckin' nasty.

I would lance zits for a career if I could. I hate it when I see people with those whiteheads that are so infected that the skin ringing it is red... I want to carry a hollowed pin or something that I could easily warm up, sterilize, and pop those motherfuckers with.

Last year I operated on a roommate who had a buzzed haircut and wound up with an ingrown hair on his scalp that went painful. I got a needle, got it out slightly, then treated him with alternating periods of a warm washrag and an icecube. Not too shabby for a then political science major.

My brother had a huge lump under the armpit once, turned out to be a swollen lymph node that they had to remove. Wasn't serious, hopefully its just something like that.

RINGLEADER
03-01-2009, 10:57 PM
You need to see a doctor of course just to make sure but I get the same things on a fairly regular basis. The lymph nodes in your armpits can evidently be agitated by things like dental work and changes in deodorant. It can also be symptomatic of Hodkins Lymphoma so best to be sure and have a doctor check you out. At the very least you'll have peace of mind.

Good luck!

it could be a cyst. keloid(sp?) or some sort. I have one and it got bigger over time. I think of it as my pet. lol Most causes are from ingrown hairs or squeezing a zit and it goes in instead of leaking out. MMMMM I know.

They're not cancerous, but tissue grows abnormally and you can get them removed. Either by injection of some sort of medicine or have it cut out. Its a quick procedure. I visited a dermatologist and they explained it to me. I recommend getting it cut out. The injection fucking hurts afterwards and requires a few visits to have the injection.

Five bucks says its a benign fatty cyst/tumor in the lymph nodes under your armpit. That being said, its good to see a doctor.

Pus is good in this case. It hurts because you were probing at it. Its going to hurt more and more until it's gone as it keeps pushing on the skin.
