KU tries to win the conference outright.

3:00pm Central

CBS

It should be fun. KU also has home winning streak to think about. KU will be starting Berchard and Kleinman on senior night.

If KU wins today they'll be Champs outright. Should the unthinkable and unmentionable occur then the same would have to happen to OU to claim sole ownership of the Big 12 title. If I'm not mistaken.

Not possible KU is guaranteed to at least share the title. And if they lose and MU wins then MU would share. KU would need OU and MU to both lose.

Kansas has at least a share of the Big 12 title regardless of what happens today. They use the tiebreakers for tournament seeds, but not to determine an outright regular season champion. Besides, if they did, KU would still claim it because they beat OU.

There was one year that Texas and Kansas ended up with the same record, and they were co-champions, even though Texas won the regular season matchup. The logic is that you play some teams once and others twice, so you can't punish a team for losing a road game without an accompanying home game.

I emailed Brian Busby after they interrupted almost an entire Stanley Cup Finals game one year, and told him there was nothing they couldn't scroll at the bottom of the screen or show in the corner of the screen, and also that it was ridiculous that they waited until the last green spec was out in North Central MO.

Congrats to the Jayhawks, Big XII champions!! Amazing when you consider they lost all five starters from last season.

Good game by Texas. I expected KU to run over them. They came out and punched KU in the face....repeatedly.

KU needs to pick up their game in the tourney.

6 of their top 7 scorers. Unfreakinbelievable. Down by 10, I didn't think it would be all that bad to lose... still get a share of the Big 12, and it would be a good reminder of how it's time to kick it up a notch. Then again, their worst habit isn't going to go away, win or loss. Hopefully it doesn't bite them in the ass early in the tourney.

However, like I mentioned, I have yet to watch the first half.

There was one play in particular where Abrams flew in from the back side and ran right into Cole arms as he was bringing the ball in on a post feed. He came in so fast and so hard that his momentum carried him past Cole. The ball jarred loose, but as I remember it, it never became a 50/50 ball. Cole bobbled it but never lost it and Abrams had knocked it loose, touching it for only a split second (may or may not have gotten some of Cole's arms as well). This prompted a tie up call for some odd reason. It happened in a split second, that's why I can't understand why it was a tie up. It was roundly booed at AFH.

Later in the game we got a tie up on a double team or a turnover, I can't remember which. It seemed like a good 3 seconds before the officials gave the signal.

Inconsistency.

I doubt it. At most they'll only play one ranked team.

If they don't play OU, I think several teams are in line before Kansas.... UConn, Pitt, Louisville, UNC, Duke, MSU...

If Kansas beats OU, it at least gives them hope, imo, but I still think a couple of the above teams would have to lose early in their tournament.

doubtful, although I have no clue where these projected seedings are coming from, why they haven't changed in weeks, and why they don't take into consideration conference standings.

They say UConn and Pitt are 2 of the #1's, but they both finished behind Louisville in the Big East.

And they say that Oklahoma is fighting for a #1 and KU has no shot, but KU won the Big 12.

So it seems its gonna be UNC, UConn, Pitt, and either Louisville or OU (and those 2 will probably end up in the same region)

Minneapolis or Dayton, OH seem more likely for KU, then they can put OU, Louisville, and Memphis in KC.

From what I've heard on ESPN, Louisville is getting knocked below UConn and Pitt because they didn't have to play either UConn or Pitt on the road.

Lousville beat Pitt @home, lost to UConn @home
Pitt swept UConn, lost @Lousville
UConn was swept by Pitt, won @Louisville

Based on the above, I don't see much of a difference.

I think they're forgiving OU, because their losses were without Griffin and/or on the road... they also beat Purdue, which is apparently impressive, and they only have one bad loss while Kansas has a couple. I think OU and Kansas should at least have a chance at a #1 if one beats the other, even though Kansas would make for a scary #1 (and I mean that from Kansas' perspective, like falling asleep against a #16  )

From what I've heard on ESPN, Louisville is getting knocked below UConn and Pitt because they didn't have to play either UConn or Pitt at home.

Lousville beat Pitt @home, lost to UConn @home
Pitt swept UConn, lost @Lousville
UConn was swept by Pitt, won @Louisville

Based on the above, I don't see much of a difference.

the media loves that ginger-headed freak. They even took Tyler Hansbrough's cock out of their mouth long enough to gulp down Griffin juice.

Luckily for ESPN, they play in different time slots, so it's always juice time...

I want to see Griffin vs. Aldrich. We haven't seen that yet.

I'm not sure they did, I think they called for ginger to put in on their face...

KU a # 1 seed ? No way, the TT loss took that away real quick. Right now that knocked us to a # 3 seed, best we can hope for is a # 2 seed. Doesn't really matter, OU , NC and the 3 Big East schools are on top when they are on their game.

I don't think the Tech loss matters at all... we need to win the B12 tournament by beating OU to get a #1, and probably get help from other teams losing early, regardless of that game. I just don't see the argument coming down to "well, Kansas did lose @Texas Tech".

As far as a 2 or 3, I think it's the same thing... there are a lot of other things to look at before that one pointless game. Bracketology has them as a 2 right now, but it's crowded at the top. They have Villanova, Duke, and Wake Forest as 3s... any of them could slide into a 2 and replace Kansas if they win their tournament and Kansas doesn't.

It's contradictory to say that the Tech game doesn't matter, but that it's a tight race.... but there are a lot bigger things to worry about before nitpicking bad losses, IMO.

A 2 seed suits me fine.

I think the Tech loss is what could (and probably will) keep them out of a 1 seed should the win the tourney or make the finals.

I disagree, the only chance we had at a # 1 was to win out, due to the AZ and MSU losses. Since we lost TT game, it doesn't matter if we win the B12 tourney.

And no, there's no shot at the #1. They'll give that to UNC, Pitt, UConn, Louisville, MSU, and Memphis before they give it to KU.

And what I'm saying is, even had Kansas won out, they still would have needed to beat OU to win the B12 Tournament and gotten help from other teams. The TT loss is down the list of reasons why Kansas won't get a #1.

IF Kansas beats OU to win the B12 tournament, and IF a number of teams lose early in their tournament, then we can point to the TT loss.... until then, it's a pointless game.
