Post via Rock M Nation (http://www.rockmnation.com/2009/3/17/801130/better-know-an-opponent-co).

This is the first in a (hopefully) six-part series highlighting 10 things you may not know about Mizzou's opponents in the NCAA Tournament. Please keep in mind that while everything below is true, it's meant in jest.

Today's profile: The Cornell Big Red.

1) Cornell is located in Ithaca, New York, a city best known for its vegetarian restaurant Moosewood Restaurant, its Dalai Lama (the North American seat for the 14th one is there, whatever that means), and its being a city in New York not named New York City. It's essentially the Jefferson City of New York, so they've got that going for them.

2) 88% of Cornell's incoming freshman this year ranked in the top 10% of their high school class... Continued on Rock M Nation (http://www.rockmnation.com/2009/3/17/801130/better-know-an-opponent-co)

4) Cornell University is not to be confused with Cornell College, a liberal arts college in Mount Vernon, Iowa. And Mount Vernon, Iowa is not to be confused with Mount Vernon, the famous Virginia home of George Washington. And George Washington is not to be confused with George Washington Carver, the famous African-American botanist famous for his work with peanuts. And peanuts are not to be confused with peas, nor nuts. Because they're legumes.

Well this list was mildly amusing, however, the bolded section is fail. Peas and peanuts are both legumes. The sentence would be factually correct if the author had said, "And peanuts are not to be confused with nuts. Because they're legumes."

I cringe to say this, but I actually have Mizzou beating Memphis in my bracket.

I have a friend who graduated from Cornell. Ran track and played football there. He's kind of a dumbass. All book smarts, no common sense.

A reply to something he says or does is often,

"****ing Cornell"

Having said that I will wholeheartedly root for them on Friday! o:-)

<p>2) 88% of Cornell's incoming freshman this year ranked in the top 10% of their high school class (as opposed to "nearly one-third of freshmen" for Mizzou).

40 percent is still pretty good. It's over half.

Any analysis without the inclusion of Andy Bernard from The Office is incomplete.

I'm sure KU fans felt the same way before KU played Bucknell and Bradley.

Big enough to hang another "NCAA Tournament Appearance" banner in their rafters ROFL

I always LMAO when I see those.

They should hang 20-win season banners as well. What a remarkable achievement.

Didn't care all that much, just like I never cared too much when KU BB won the B12 tourney and now it seems like it's such a big deal. I did enjoy our rivalry w/ Texas the last couple years in B12 tourney, though.

You need to make sure to do predictions for all of Mizzou's game in the Tourney.
