Chiefs Terminate CB David Macklin
Mar 18, 2009, 3:04:52 PM

The Kansas City Chiefs terminated the contract of CB David Macklin on Wednesday. Macklin played in four games with the Chiefs in 2008.

See ya L8r kid. We hardly knew ya!

Something tells me that the management doesn't like stupid players who don't fall in line. I don't see how LJ can be in Pioli's future plans other than trading him IMO.

And then he was a fucking idiot with the Chiefs.. scrub shouldn't be drinking and having a good time, he should be fucking working out constantly.

He'll either trade him or let him be unhappy and stay. He's still got great value on the field.

Me thinks there's quite a big difference between David Macklin and Larry Johnson.

I concur, but it still is nice to see a legitmate focus on making players take responsiblity for off field behavior. Which is why I see LJ not lasting long if he keeps up his wanna-be thug act.

What are you talking about? He f'd up a long time ago. He said he was sorry, did his time, and then came back and produced really well. From all I've seen, he's dropped the "wanna-be thug act." Unless dating that chick from TLC is a bad thing. Maybe it's better if he's with a mom who has a kid, he won't be out at the club as much.

I'm not so sure. This is a different regime that never had to deal with LJ's prior off-the-field behavior.

Are you implying last Oct as a long time ago? :spock:

William Bartee was sent from the future to save him, but the terminator attacked from behind, and Bartee was killed.

Which is why I don't see much of a difference IMO. They are going to see all the players as the same. Screw ups and all. No more of the GM coddling his favorite draftee.

That's not necessarily true.

LJ has a court case or two coming up which would fall under the current regime.

He's also publicly stated that he wants out of KC.

I don't think that bodes well for his future with the Chiefs.

Are you implying some sort of retroactive punishment?

"Hey", says the new boss, "I didn't like the way your old boss handled a disciplinary action last year before I took over, so I've decided to **** you over now."

No just saying that there is clearly a pattern of behavior that doesn't bode well for LJ. If he straightens up and flies right, great. I just don't see it in the way he was requesting a trade and wanting out of KC.

Agreed, of course.

He continues to fuck up, and I'm sure he's not long on this team's roster.

LJ has a court case or two coming up which would fall under the current regime.

Incidences that came from prior off-the-field situations.
These aren't court dates stemming from new incidents.
Pioli knew about them before he even took the job.

He's also publicly stated that he wants out of KC.

He said that while Herman Edwards was still employed by the Chiefs.
And remember, Tony Gonzalez said the same thing last year.
Why's he still here? Because the franchise couldn't get the value they wanted for him.

It'll be no different with Johnson.
They aren't going to let this guy walk.
They would've done that already if they wanted him gone.

LJ repeated after Pioli and Haley arrived that he wanted out of KC. I believe it was live on the radio 610 sports.

Oh come on. There were guys who didn't belong in the league playing all over the defense last year. He was just a body. You have to run someone out there.

No.

Macklin was signed because Herm saw fit to cut Tyron Brackenridge right after he was burned a few times against the Bucs.

So much for the "youth movement."

And if you recall, Herm blamed Brack in the media for the loss, too.
