Pelosi Tells Illegal Immigrants That Work Site Raids are Un-American

By William Lajeunesse

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently told a group of both legal and illegal immigrants and their families that enforcement of existing immigration laws, as currently practiced, is "un-American."

The speaker, condemning raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, referred to the immigrants she was addressing as "very, very patriotic."

"Who in this country would not want to change a policy of kicking in doors in the middle of the night and sending a parent away from their families?" Pelosi told a mostly Hispanic gathering at St. Anthony's Church in San Francisco.

"It must be stopped....What value system is that? I think it's un-American. I think it's un-American."

Pelosi said she was invited to the church by Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., as part of his 17-city, cross-country tour called United Families, which he says is intended to put a human face on the immigration debate.

"We think that families are the cornerstone of our society and our nation, and an immigration system should preserve those families, not destroy them," Gutierrez told FOX News Capitol Hill Producer Chad Pergram on Tuesday.

The congressman is collecting petitions that ask President Obama to "stop the immigration raids and deportations that are tearing our marriages, families and children apart." He is expected to present those petitions when Hispanic members of Congress meet with the President Wednesday.

On Saturday night, Pelosi joined Gutierrez before a cheering crowd at St. Anthony's chanting, "Si se puede," or "Yes we can."

Referring to work site enforcement actions by ICE agents, Pelosi said, "We have to have a change in policy and practice and again ... I can't say enough, the raids must end. The raids must end.

"You are special people. You're here on a Saturday night to take responsibility for our country's future. That makes you very, very patriotic."

"I was embarrassed by what she said," said Rick Oltman, with Californians for Population Stabilization, an anti-illegal immigrant group. "Exhorting illegal aliens for taking responsibility for our country's future.... In fact, sitting there in the audience.... I really resented that comment."

"I think it was pandering to the crowd but also insulting to American citizens who consider themselves to be patriotic, who obey the rule of law," said Oltman, who shot a video of the rally.

They broke the law but they are patriotic? WOW! This bitch is fucking out there. I'd say it is very American to allow their ass to stay here tax free while they suck up all the social services they can.

But if they get to vote.....

Well see that is the problem. The Dems court them to gain the vote. The Repubs turn a blind eye to them cause it is a resource of cheap labor. That is why everything I buy anymore is printed in Spanish as well as English.

What makes me sick is tumors like Pelosi, Reid, Frank and Dodd have so much power to adversely effect my life, yet I have no power to vote them out of office.

I'll tell you what must be stopped...Pelosi. Please grow some brains and guts in the House leadership and get this liability out of the public eye.

I agree that if they are going to be here, it should be legally and should be in the system. No one should get a free ride and not have to contribute. That said...I don't feel "smeared" at all.

One would hope someone would kick down Pelosi's door in the middle of the night and haul her off. Preferably encased in cement and dropped off in the middle of San Francisco Bay. :thumb:

Is it still legal to challenge someone to a duel?
"Pelosi, you and me, high noon in the reflecting pool."

I wonder if any of these people are going to need construction, landscaping, dry wall or other blue collar jobs that "Americans Don't Want".

The lack of outrage over this illegal immigration problem is short of amazing.

WASHINGTON — The economic downturn is hitting Iraq and Afghanistan veterans harder than other workers — one in nine are now out of work — and may be encouraging some troops to remain in the service, according to Labor Department records and military officials.

The 11.2% jobless rate for veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and who are 18 and older rose 4 percentage points in the past year. That's significantly higher than the corresponding 8.8% rate for non-veterans in the same age group, says Labor Department economist Jim Walker.

Army records show the service has hit 152% of its re-enlistment goal this year. "Obviously the economy plays a big role in people's decisions," says Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, an Army spokesman.

Some soldiers are re-enlisting specifically because of the poor civilian job market, says Sgt. 1st Class Julius Kelley, a career counselor at Fort Campbell, Ky. "It's job security (in the Army), and I try to sell that all the time," he says. "You don't have to worry about getting laid off in the Army."

The market is tough outside the Army. Unemployment among the youngest of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, those ages 20 to 24, reached 15% in February, records show. That compares with 13.8% for the same age group of non-veterans. Some government jobs offer preference to veterans by giving them extra points on civil service exams. However, there is no evidence this is having much effect on unemployment.

The $787 billion economic stimulus law enacted last month includes a $2,400-per-person tax credit for employers who hire unemployed veterans in 2009 and 2010.

In addition, the Labor Department operates career centers that provide priority service for veterans and the HireVetsFirst website, says Peggy Abrahamson, a Labor Department spokeswoman.

Young veterans, Walker says, often have trouble "translating their military skills into skills on their résumé that employers recognized."

The total number of unemployed veterans of the two wars — about 170,000 — is about the same as the number of U.S. troops deployed to those wars.

Iraq and Afghanistan veterans enter the workforce at a disadvantage, says Justin Brown, a Veterans of Foreign Wars specialist in veterans' economic issues. "If you served in the military, you're disconnected from the civilian workforce, you don't have contacts that a civilian person has," he says.

The least the country can do, Brown says, is help veterans find jobs so "they come home and they're not living in the streets, unemployed, homeless or in bankruptcy."

Robert Pearson, 23, of Minneapolis, is a former paratrooper who served in Afghanistan. He says it's hard to find work as a human resources manager in order to use the skills he learned managing soldiers as a combat team leader.

He says he was shocked when a job-placement worker told him that some employers consider a military record almost like having "a felony."

"People just frown upon us nowadays, thinking we're all flying-off-the-handle crazy guys," says Pearson, who has a bachelor's degree in business management. "They don't even give us a chance."

I love how politicians just can't help themselves from telling lies.

"We have you on tape..."

"No you don't..."

"Yes, yes we do...listen..."

"I didn't do that, I don't care what you have me on tape saying..."

The problem Ms. Pelosi is that as soon as they cross the border they are criminals and that is no way to start your life as an American. Want citizenship? then go about it legally like my wife and so many others have had to do therefore you are not a criminal from day one.

Come on...never let the law get in the way of your political views. That just won't fly on this board. (SARCASM)

Pelosi needs all the illegal votes she can get. It is the Cali way.

The problem is she is profiting and will see no repercussion from it. Total perversion of our voting system and illegal by pandering to illegals to vote for her.

This is going to sound real bad but if a a family out there that got victimized by criminal illegals might want to talk some sense into her and frighten the F*** out of her. And why not? She's supporting an illegal act.

She's only doing what she can to get elected and Screw the USA.
