Time to put him out in the general population...

Stream of consciousness post...

It's amazing this nation survived 67-69.

Helter Skelter, drugs, MLK, Bobby Kennedy, vietnam, riots, hippies, Johnson/Nixon, segregation, stagflation, Jim Crow, commies in every corner, AIM, students for a democratic society, Simbeanese Liberation Army, the Weathermen, Patty Hearst...

Wow.

It was a hell of a time to be returning from Nam, 21 years old, feeling like 80.

Had someone call me a baby killer once (although I can truthfully say, I killed no babies).

I went back to school so I could become a mover and shaker. An elitist really...but found the view from the top isn't so different. Just more comfortable.

Eventually gave up on that too. It's easier to plant a garden, make love to my wife, raise a few chickens and pigs, and hope to God that there are still good times left in this country for my kids and grandkids.

Back to reality.

Manson is crazy.

I don't know about that. The crazy little bastard's probably a hero to many of them.

He's "Old School" Crazy and when they did an interview with him on 60 minutes a few years back I remember them asking a prison official WHY he is still is solitary after tall these years.

His response was because Manson is still a CULT hero and gets tons of mail every month worshiping him. He is a living legend among criminals and if put in general population the chances of him getting killed are about 100% by some nobody thug wanting to make a name for himself by being the man that killed Charles Manson.

Makes sense if you think about it.

If you like true crime books, I highly recommend Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi and Curt Gentry (Bugliosi was the prosecutor). One of the best books I've read. The first, made for TV, movie with Steve Railsback as Manson is pretty good. The new movie made a couple of years ago pretty much sucked.

Did you ever see Silence of the Lambs? Did you ever feel like you had a connection with a psychopathic murderer? I mean, I felt sorry for Hannibal a little and Manson has antisocial personality disorder (no care for anyone else and very good at manipulating people), just like Hannibal. Maybe it's just that I'm young and don't remember how much everyone hated this guy, but I don't like going with the mob mentality all of the time.

Not liking someone who manipulated others to kill isn't what I would call "mob mentality". By the same line of thought are you a fan of Pol Pot or Idi Amin?

I can understand finding something in a monster like Manson to feel sorry for, but that in no way means I want him released. This guy is a total sociopath. You think a guy in his 70's can't still be dangerous? As far as I'm concerned, what Manson did forfeited his right to freedom. Period. It's not a matter of sympathy. (Of which he had/has none BTW)

Because Manson wanted to start a race war. It was one of his "prophecies"

The one thing he didn't do was properly stage the crime scenes so that the cops would think blacks were responsible. None of the words written in blood - Rise, Death to Pigs and "Healter" Skelter (they misspelled it) really jumped out in that regard. Obviously DIE WHITEY or SUCK IT CRACKER would have been more effective.

I guess Manson gets a FAIL for race war initiation. :D

The Beatles didn't influence Manson to do anything any more than Hinkley and Chapman were influenced by Catcher in the Rye. All of the individuals were delusional and found their own influences within their troubled minds.

the "murder" conviction comes from ordering the crimes. somewhat like if you are commiting a felony and a cop shoots your partner, you can be charged with murder due to the felony you were commiting
