Program to help speed up your computer? Mine use to be fast as hell, but now it's so sluggish sometimes it drives me nuts. Any suggestions on how to get this thing running like it use to? Thanks

I was having trouble so I tried it. It worked well for awhile, they did a bunch of shit I didn't understand, checking and unchecking boxes, running some stuff, it worked well, but after looking at myspace for awhile it slowed back down I would not recommend it

Do yourself a favor and avoid finallyfast*com. It will not work. Besides the comedy of watching their commercials in which they show Apple computers running their "Windows only" software and getting bluescreens, the site has been flagged for potential malware, spyware, etc. by several internet protection organizations.

Wipe your drives and re-install the OS.

yes and find that free program that searches for autolaunching programs.

Also search for website that will inform on which 'services' to shut down.

Get rid of windows eye candy.

try linux(ubuntu)

Doesn't hijackthis list the programs you don't need?

I know my laptop is slower upon restart because of all the autorun programs. I'm not quite nick burns enough to know what can be turned off and what can't.

Uncheck them all. XP will use only what it needs.

Uncheck them all. XP will use only what it needs.

I really wouldn't recommend doing this. At all. If you don't know what registry keys you're deleting, you're much better off leaving them alone. This could actually kill your virus scanner and spyware/malware scanners in some cases....

If you run HijackThis and post your output file, we can tell you what is safe to delete and how to delete them....

I also deleted some of my porn. That seemed to be taking up alot of memory, but I kept the really good stuff. My GF gets into it alot more than I do. We watch it and then she likes to do a follow-along like it's a damn work out program. Been dreaming of this girl all my life and now I finally got her :) No hiding porn in my house. The more the better.

for most people uninstalling limewire and all their other P2P stuff, running spybot, and running hijack this will improve it

And if you use any Apple products like quicktime or iTunes, do this every once in a while, because they'll check themselves again after updates and what seems to be random other times. :cuss:
