We need to get to 70 pts. They are 24-1 when holding a team under that.

Bearcat
03-22-2009, 02:15 PM
They should if they came to actually play today....

But Dayton brought their A++++++++++++ /MU and KSU fans...

And like I said earlier, I know WVU shot poorly, too, so the logical thing is to think Dayton has something to do with Kansas' struggles on the offensive side, but I don't think it does. For starters, 3-13 from the FT line is not Dayton... add 10 points to that and it's a 20 point game. And Dayton doesn't even look as good as Nebraska on D to me. They're like SIU... they try to make up for their lack of anything resembling basketball skill with.... well, I'm not sure.

KevB

If I'm a Dayton player, I think the right approach is to dribble right up to Aldrich and shoot it in front of him. That seems to be working well. I mean guys.....the man has blocked every shot you've tried to put up. They're just beating their heads against a brick wall expecting the thing to fall.

Bearcat

Yeah, people hate watching close, high-scoring games.

I sometimes get annoyed when there's absolutely no defense. I haven't been watching it, but I think you mentioned there's no perimeter D in that game... that would annoy me a little, if they aren't even trying.

But, yeah, still not as annoying as watching teams with no talent.

Aldrich with the triple-double.

not everyone has freakish athletic ability. Shaq, Duncan, Gasol, Divac, Illgaskas are a few big guys that come to mind that really aren't that athletic. Not comparing any to Aldrich, but I bet he will be a lottery pick when he goes out after his senior year hopefully

Um Shaquille O'Neal was the most dominant big man possibly ever in his prime...and you're also bringing up other guys that have jump shot games.

But it's extremely hard to not be a just average or above average athletic big in the NBA when you have to deal with guys like Garnett and Howard who are ridiculous in what they bring.

DJay23
03-22-2009, 02:44 PM
In all seriousness, Aldrich doesn't have the offensive game for the NBA. He needs to work on his 15 foot jumper a little more and his game with his back to the basket needs some work.

However, defensively and rebounding-wise, I think he's ready.

Playing team ball in the NBA is pretty hard because the game has the freakiest athletes of any sport so scoring generally results in the best guys on the floor taking over games.

Two things really annoy me about the NBA... I've seen games where one person takes over, and I don't mind that. But, I've seen games where it's like they have one play, and it gets boring fast. I think it was the Spurs/Lakers last year where every time down the court the Spurs' PG would drive into the paint and dish it out to a guy for a 3.... and it wasn't even defended after the hundredth time.

The other thing is flopping... I've watched the playoffs the past couple of years, and really want to like guys like Paul Pierce... and if he would just concentrate on his freakish athletic ability and not flopping and whining to the refs....

Looking ahead to next season a little bit, here's a quote from Lance Stevenson...

“Maybe I’ll get drafted to the Knicks, who knows?” Stephenson said. “If I keep playing hard and pick the right college and show my talent, I think I’ll be here again.”"

Maryland has been ruled out by zagsblog for a week now, and now he's saying he wants to play again in the garden if he's drafted by the Knicks? What about St. John's, they play in the garden! :)

Looks like he's coming to Lawrence...

I wouldn't watch the NBA if it was the only thing on. I'd just turn off the TV and turn on some tunes.

no dude!! It's because they don't have to try because they have the money and they don't play defense because they don't want to get fouled out of the game. Ask anybody, compared to NCAA basketball, the NBA is boring as hell to watch

People that hate the NBA just haven't watched it. You sound like Skip, an old angry white guy who hasn't seen the NBA since the Jordan area. The main reason why non-athletic people aren't in the NBA or see floor time isn't because of offense, it's because they can't guard people defensively and lack the lateral quickness. See JJ Reddick. With that said, I think the athleticism of NBA players is over exaggerated, while athleticism is important, wingspan and height are one of the largest factors. In other words, you need to be tall AND athletic. Whereas in college, you can get away with being one or the other.

I sometimes enjoy watching the finals but besides that and watching KU players that are in the NBA, I can't really get into it.

I watched the NBA before you were born. It was crappy then and it is crappy now.
