This is also shows why it is a waste of $ to buy a 2WD truck/SUV.

Ya - we are supposed to get like 4-6 inches of snow tomorrow....required "wife will be getting 8 inches later".

Well I would but I traded the neighbor the sand bags to put down on a stone walk way he was putting in for the sod he was taking out to fix the bare spots in my yard.

IMO it's a waste of money to pay thousands more for a feature that you only use 4-5 times a year.

Eh, opinions vary. If you live in a rural area then I agree with him, it is stupid. But I live in the city where they plow the streets pretty quickly, plus I have other vehicles I can drive if it's that bad, so paying extra for 4WD did not make sense to me.

4WD won't necessarily prevent that, it doesn't help you slow down one bit. Usually during snowstorms the majority of the vehicles I see in the ditch or in accidents are 4WDs. It gives idiots a false sense of security.

It gives idiots a false sense of security. You need to be more specific on this statement. Most of the vehicles in the ditches are 4WD/AWD SUV's usually driven by people who have no idea what these systems actually do for a vehicle.

A winch will increase your confidence exponentially. Its a bit of an investment, but well worth it.
After getting one I just make sure there are good winch points, trees, rocks, whatever, within 100' of the trail and I know I can drag myself out if needed.

For the guy getting dragged through the snow behind my Jeep it most certainly is. A bit dangerous too, that's why you won't catch me doing that shit. ;)
