I want to run another draft. It will be either one or two rounds. Post in here if you'd like to be randomly assigned a team, and if you'd like to vote for one or two rounds put that too.

And I would vote for 2 rounds

If you were in the official CP mock draft and would like to keep the same team so you don't have to do any more research, you can make that request as well(the Chiefs will be randomly assigned, I'll use the excel method Rain Man posted in his draft game thread),

doomy3
04-05-2009, 07:45 PM
Question:

Are we able to trade in this mock?

bdeg
04-05-2009, 07:48 PM
Hell yes.

To make it a little more fun, if you trade for a pick in a later round, after we complete or the day before the draft you can pick any player who hasn't already been selected and who wouldn't have been selected had the draft followed nfl draft countdown's overall player rankings(so anyone listed after the # of your draft pick).

If we have time we'll do them in order, eliminating each player picked from the available pool, too.

I got a count of 12 so far, 4 more would be perfect. 2 teams a piece.

Alright, let's try for four more then. If anyone already signed up doesn't want an extra team say so. Also, if we don't get sixteen teams would anyone else volunteer to take on 3 or more? I'll give everyone 2 and split the rest between myself and anyone else who wants more.

These teams:

bdeg-Steelers, Bills, Ravens, Vikings, Dolphins, Cowboys
doomy-Pats, Rams, Colts, 49ers, Jags, Giants

will remain 'in the pool' and will be divided

OK, one more person and we will be able to split it evenly 2 teams per person, except 1 for chiefscafan and 1 for flopnuts.

04-14-2009, 06:23 PM
The St. Louis Rams select Jason Smith, OT Baker.

Pretty easy pick here. OT is a huge need for the Rams and Smith is going to be a very, very good one for many years. The Rams also would have been very happy with Eugene Monroe, but Smith is the best LT in this draft.

bdeg
04-14-2009, 06:42 PM
I should've thought of that and kept it practically random while avoiding assigning teams that could trade to the same person.

I considered trading teams with you so we could negotiate a trade, but I think that's both a reasonable trade(heard on NFL Live from a Philly reporter that they're likely to trade up for an OT), and fair value (it should be undervalued and is at 1890 from the Eagles compared to 2200). I'll allow it.

Andy Reid tried to move up for Branden Albert last year by trading with the Cards, there are 2 can't miss prospects in this draft and they'd probably be gone by 4 if they don't make this trade.

I realize that, but it's a fair trade. It REALLY sucks and I'm pissed I set the thing up too fast to realize giving the Chiefs and Eagles to one person was dumb until it was too late.

When it comes down to it, the more important issue at hand to me is time. The draft is in 10 days 18 hours(thanks nfldc), and I'd like to get as close to the end of the 2nd as we can. What's quicker, letting the fair trade go through, or making him wait around for trade partners? I'd usually just switch up the teams, like I said I considered swapping one of mine, but I think this is literally the most fair trade possible. If I had swapped and taken Philly, it's the trade I'd have expected to have to make to get the pick.

Tell ya what, you'll be the first sub. If the thing ever goes like 8am-11pm without a pick and you're around I'll let you make the pick. Sully you wanna be 2nd up? Your luck of the draw was a bit unfortunate as well.

I honestly don't remember volunteering for this draft. I didn't really have time for the other mock draft (the seventh round one), and really don't have time for this.

however, seeing as it'd be a dick move to bow out (even though one can't bow out if one wasn't bowed IN in the first place), this pick is fucking easy

mark sanchez. matt hasselback is old and has had major injuries the last few years. sanchez has all the tools, just needs a bit more seasoning. he'll get it, as there's almost a guarantee that hasselback will be injured at some point this next year. I believe there's a good shot that he may not give hasselback the job back.

seattle seahawks rejoice and select: mark 'dirty' sanchez.

The Green Bay Packers finished last season with a 6-10 record with new starter Aaron Rodgers at the helm. Despite Rodgers above par performance in 08 They are left with the 9th pick of the 2009 NFL draft. The Pack ended last year ranked 20th in total defense and lack a very important aspect. Pass rushers. Green Bay racked up only 27 sacks in 08 sending them into the bottom 10 of the league in that department. Their only real pass rush threat is Aaron Kampman. With the Green Bay Packers making their transition to a 3-4 defense and a few great pass rushers left on the board the Green Bay Packers select with the 9th pick in the 2009 draft, the ultra talented pure pass rusher, Brian Orakpo.

The Bills need pass rushers. They finished 28th in the league in sacks last year. They could also use a vaible option at TE, to help further the development of Trent Edwards. There are several TE's that will be available later in the draft, but the same can not be said for pass rushers.

With the 11th overall pick in the 2009 nfl draft the Buffalo Bills select: Everette Brown, DE, Florida St.

Since the draft is getting so close Im thinking to try and finish this thing that we need a time limit between picks. Say after one guy picks, the next guy then has 8-10 hours to make his pick, if he doesnt show up then Id say Bdeg just make the pick. If we dont do something we wont ever get to finish it.

Its the same idioticness where people are trying to trade cassel in order to get more picks one it won't happen so come back from fantasy land.

I made one exception, I'm certainly not going to allow anything. If you want to trade find a partner.

Yeah and your trade was retarded as hell. Carpenter and Spencer aren't worth a 1st round pick.

Yeah because picking Sanchez and then trading him is so dumb.

yeah, the cowboys trade is what I felt invalidated this draft. actually, the following kinda killed it for me:

1) trades of PLAYERS? what is this, a madden franchise? it feels cheesy because of this.
2) not having enough people who are dedicated and willing to spend the time it takes to put together a decent draft.

and yeah. the cowboys trade was fucking retarded.

To be fair it was put together with not much time to go. It's just to have a little fun, but It would be better with more participation. Theres really not much you can do about that when people take a team and don't follow through with it. Then again, I've had a trade proposal out there for a few days now and haven't heard anything back. A acceptance, counter offer, or refusal would be nice

I said you could trade players as a concession because he was stuck without any picks, I didn't think he'd be able to work out a trade. But if you can work one out, why not? Teams trade players during the draft... Randy Moss comes to mind.

indeed. fuck, I'm all for an alternate mock draft. the more the merrier. but if there's a quality dropoff, it's gonna be noticeable. ALSO--starting it late was another show killer.

and sure. there ARE trades in the REAL nfl draft. but you're talking about a message board where there are morons who say 'let's bring him in for a look so we can get him to teach our young guys!' with pretty much ANY vet. even ones who are beyond over the hill.

and once more, no offense.. but... does that show a lack of interest? it's mock draft SEASON in a board full of diehard football fans. and only twelve people sign up? (and one, me, who didn't really sign up). it would tell me, where I the one who started it up, that interest may not be high enough to run. it's hard enough to run a mock draft even WITH full participation, and you MAY just be lucky enough to get through the first round, but that's slightly up to doubt.

The Patriots had a couple other players that they were considering here that would fit larger needs, but they didn't expect this guy to be on the board still either. This is a luxury pick, but they feel that he is the best back in the draft and as great as their offense is, if you add in a legitimate back to it, it will be unstoppable.

Even though the Pats signed Leigh Bodden and Shawn Springs this offseason, they look to get younger in the secondary. Vontae Davis is a physical freak who will provide great athleticism to the secondary, and will give the Patriots options.

Wideout is someting the Dolphins need and they get a player that can spread the field and drops to them because of the positive drug test. Parcells will crack the whip and Harvin will do what he is supposed to be. Plus he will stay in Florida which can't hurt.
