ive heard people talk about the mayan calender before and cant help but laugh. as 2012 nears, i think we will start seeing these nutballs really start to unwind, which will send people into an even bigger frenzy thinking there is truth to the end being near. im hearing commercials on the radio advertising bible study classes on the book of revalations, DONT BE LEFT BEHIND. they are just winding these people up. then the rwnj like beck and limbaugh that keep rattling these people. the left wingers got pretty nutty over bush no doubt about it but we are seeing a whole new level of this shit.

Is that any different than clinging to the state as one's savior?

Nope! Everyone's got their crutch. I hate to use that word for this but...

Limbauhg is just a whiney ass hypocrite. He slams the Left for always wanting to legistale "fairness", then goes on to cry about how his taxes aren't fair.

I would take very little of what he says seriously.

Fairy tale? :spock:

Think what you want about religion, big government saving mankind and delivering his every need....history has repeatedly demonstrated that to be the biggest fairy tale of them all. A government that powerful will not only fail in saving mankind, but will expedite his demise.

Except "modern" socialism is different....right? Afterall, it's "different" than the Soviet style, right?

Welfare state? Yeah....unfortunately, it's where we are. Full-fledged socialism...been there--done that. No thanks.

It's true what they say about refusing to learn the lessons of history....

No one I know did....that's for sure. Your straw man and hyperbole aside, though....yeah way too many Republicans seem to think the government has all the answers for them too.

However, the biggest hypocrits I know are the folks who are demanding government solutions to all our problems....yet are expecting that to be paid for by ONLY the top 2-5% of the population, but are not willing to buck up their fair share. I support the tax hikes on the top income earners, but if we are ever gonna pay for all this stuff....the rest of us are gonna have to up the ante as well.

Personally, I'd rather see them reduce the size of government....so none of us have to pay more. Seeing as that doesn't seem to be an option since no one is willing to do it....then we all need to buck up.

I tell you what, the 2012 ordeal really doesn't look too far off base. Let's just say the stars are starting to line up for such a deal. America is falling, the Chinese are starting to take over the world, the Islamo-terrorists are just waiting for the right time to pop off a nuke. Will 2012 be the end of the world? Probably not. But it may be the end of the world as we know it.

i hear you loud and clear. there are some people better off dead, toxic assets so to speak. i hope that this whole situation helps make people be more responsible in the future. the poor wouldnt be poor if the rich didnt get rich. most of the time when somebody makes a lot of money, a lot of people are getting fucked(not sexually and if it is sexually its a fucking you wont like). the fucking, has to stop or this will happen again. all of our actions cumilitavely caused this situation and we have put ourselves into a position to let government change things in a big way. we were not smart enough before to handle things and now we will pay or benefit from what they want to do. we paid before, will we pay again?

im not afraid of my future at all as i have much to look forward to. im enjoying the most prosperous times ive encountered and every morning when i wake up im excited about the oppurtunities that i will create for myself.

i saw 2 homemade signs in a shawnee yard the other day saying god save us and the other saying ussa(funny part is this house looked like a shack, socialism would be a step up for them). we are in the bible belt and thats why i mentioned the living in kansas part. plus that revalations commercial.

Ok, I found clinging to guns:

He just believed in our right to bear arms. He believe that hard economic times were going to put forth gun bans and that sort of thing. He basically believed in what our forefathers had put before us, and was being distorted by the Zionist-controlled government, and he didnít believe in that.

He just basically told me he didnít like the Zionist control over our government, he didnít like that there was about to be military policing, he didnít believe in the fact that there was about to be a gun ban. He didnít like anything that was going on in the political forefront, and he was basically very politically active, and he didnít agree with what was going on right now in the United States of America.

Anybody got clinging to religion?

So....will the Obama and the Dems be solely to blame if they double the national debt over, say, the next 8-10 years, as the CBO is presently predicting.

:hmmm:

:hmmm:

Dude, over the last 8 years who controlled the White House? Who controlled the Congress for 6 of the 8?

The trade deficit skyrocketed under Bush. You need to face up to some truhts of the matter instead of looking where to place the blame next.

I haven't said otherwise.

My point is there was Democratic complicity over the last 8 years or so....and thus blame. Just like what will happen over the next few years. Republicans will share in any blame, more than likely.

I'm curious if those blaming Bush/Republicans will be as quick to blame Obama/Democrats. Seems a fair question to me. I suspect not....

Funny how that works.

So I assume you blame at least a significant portion of the current financial crisis on the Democrats who have been in charge of Congress for the last few years?

No, but the dems aren't blameless. This crisis has its roots in the 80's not 2006.

And a Democratic President and Congress....failed to fix things, AND contributed in many ways to worsening it. Both the 80s and the 90s were deceptive that way, in the apparent "prosperity" that hid a lot of shit going down. It's been a wildly bipartisan effort.

Democratic complicity? How so (beyond the repeal of Glass Steagal which was inserted into a massive spending bill)? The Republicans have dominated policy and legislation from 1994 to 2006.

Deficit spending is a two headed monster; Republicans refuse to raise taxes, but Democrats refuse to cut spending. Monetary policies, mortgage lending, increased entitlement expenditures and COLAs that outpace inflation....passed primarily with Democratic support and minority Republican support and signed by a President who was also intoxicated by Big Government.

Dems certainly didn't do it alone, but they were critical to on-going support for sugar daddy cradle-to-grave care....at taxpayer expense. Republicans signed on without raising taxes, but Democrats continued to spend like a drunken sailor. There's plenty of bipartisan blame to go around.

Majorities do not prevail without support or acquiescence from the minority in our republic. Filibuster is a bitch. At best, Democrats acquiesced; at worst, they looked the other way. Shame on them.

Obama is finding out this truism of American politics, as we speak. I'd strongly urge a course in remedial American government for you, if you wish to really understand how politics works in this country.

So, you'd now agree that the Dems are also responsible when they were the majority party in the 90s with a Dem President, and exasperated the situation through unwise monetary and lending policies compounded by runaway spending commitments to unsustainable entitlement programs.

Glad I was able to help you to see the light of the bipartisan boondoggle and clusterfugg that Washington has become. :thumb:

God damn, you really are a disingenuous prick. There was a Dem majority for four years of the 90's and only two of that was under a Democratic President. I've never claimed Democrats were blameless but to assign the same level of blame to them as the Republicans is ludicrous.

almost prophetic, huh?

ive heard people talk about the mayan calender before and cant help but laugh. as 2012 nears, i think we will start seeing these nutballs really start to unwind, which will send people into an even bigger frenzy thinking there is truth to the end being near. im hearing commercials on the radio advertising bible study classes on the book of revalations, DONT BE LEFT BEHIND. they are just winding these people up. then the rwnj like beck and limbaugh that keep rattling these people. the left wingers got pretty nutty over bush no doubt about it but we are seeing a whole new level of this shit.

i just hope i dont have to encounter any of these looney toons. living in kansas makes this no easy task.
