w00t.

The Lions are able to add a player here with significant upside who can help in Matt Stafford's development. They already have bookend tackles with Beatty and Cherilus, a lethal WR in Calvin Johnson, a solid RB in Kevin Smith, now they add a tight end.

Arizona Cardinals select Dominique Edison, WR, Stephen F. Austin

I think Edison's a big time sleeper. Great production, nice size/speed combo, has the strength to fight for the ball. If Boldin gets traded he would have a good shot at getting a roster spot.

Tight end is not really a need for the Titans, but they like to play with 3 and this gives them another body to step in if Crumpler goes down or gets cut in training camp.

'Hamas' Jenkins

The Patriots don't have a lot of holes, and really have more picks than open slots. With that in mind, it's pretty nice to be able to get a guy who can contribute for them in two capacities with this pick. Gostkowski doesn't have a massive leg for kickoffs, so in addition to fourth downs, he can help after the numerous Patriot scoring drives. In addition to almost chopping his leg in half 6 years ago, Hanson was 20th in the league in punting average last year.

The New England Patriots select Thomas Morstead, P, SMU

Dallas Cowboys select Brock Christopher, LB, Missouri

Mr. Flopnuts
04-13-2009, 11:34 PM
Time for my annual token Husky pick. This guy has been injury prone his whole career. But he's a tough son of a bitch. Guy suffered a lisfranc injury and skipped the surgery to play last season. He was an all 2nd team Pac 10 selection in 2007, and while he's a project, who isn't in the 7th round? He stays healthy, he probably makes the team.

The Rams select Juan Garcia C Washington

'Hamas' Jenkins
04-14-2009, 12:10 PM
I think this kid really has the chance to be special. He's got a good set of physical skills, amazing intangibles, and he's very, very smart. He's the kind of player that the Patriots targeted in the past, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him go as high as the fourth or fifth round in the draft.

The Kansas City Chiefs select Don Carey, CB, Norfolk State.

eazyb81
04-14-2009, 12:49 PM
This player looked like a future star just a few years ago. Coming out of famed HS program De La Salle, he was a top-ranked recruit, went to Oregon and earned a starting spot, and ending up making the Freshman All-American team. It went downhill after that, as he struggled to stay healthy and ended up getting kicked off the team.

He has the cover skills and speed to play in the NFL, he just needs to grow up and avoid injuries. With a 7th round pick I'll take a chance on him.

The Seattle Seahawks select Jackie Bates, CB, Hampton

'Hamas' Jenkins

This guy has had some injury concerns, but I think that he could be a decent Cover 2 MLB as long as you have bigger DT's to eat up some blockers. He's rangy and athletic.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Josh Mauga, MLB, Nevada

ChiefsCountry
04-14-2009, 06:11 PM
There is still some intriguing talent here that I think could help Tampa's defense. The line is still bereft of ability other than Gaines Adams. I think a guy like this would be a good LE in a Cover 2 scheme, and he has the ability to get after the QB. Right now he's a better athlete than a football player, but he has the potential to do some damage.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Henry Melton, DE, Texas

The Philadelphia Eagles select Alex Boone, OT, Ohio State.

It's a boom or bust pick here and since it's the 7th round and it's the Eagles last pick....they can afford to make it. The Eagles needed two OTs coming into the draft and that was after they signed Stacy Andrews away from the Bengals in the offseason. Xavier Fulton in the 3rd round will hopefully kick in at the LT spot and play well. Since Andrews is penciled in at the RT spot.....Boone can sit and deal with his offseason issues. Once Andrews is injured (because you know he will be)...Boone can come in and man the RT spot (hopefully). If he doesn't work out....it was a 7th round pick...nothing lost.

This guy's size and athleticism are definitely worth a late 7th round flier as a potential 5-tech in Arizona's new 3-4 scheme.

6'5", 305, also played bball in college. Has some minor character concerns but nothing that really scares me off - mainly just dumb kid stuff. Really like this pick. He has a ton of upside.
