Rumor from Rockchalktalk:

A close source, whom we consider quite reliable has informed us that the person responsible for hitting a pedestrian after a confrontation in Lawrence late Saturday night/early Sunday mornings is none other than RB Jocques Crawford. Our source says the pedestrian was a teamate, name unknown. The back of the skull was fractured in 4 places and had severe swelling of his brain. They donít think heíll make it so they are waiting to press charges accordingly. Once again, take this for what it is- a rumor(even as well backed up as we have heard.) We wish the best for the person lying in that hospital bed, no matter what the reason or who hit him. Hope this all turns out to be a rumor, but wanted to let you know what we are hearing.

From another anonymous yet extremely reliable source close to the team:

Apparently there was a bit of dust-up between Joc and Ben Lueken. Not sure who else was involved. Apparently Joc said something to Ben, who flew into a fit of rage. Ben was extremely intoxicated and jumped up on the hood of Jocís Tahoe. Joc slammed on the brakes and Ben flew off, cracking his head open. Awaiting word how bad the injury is.

The team is very upset, for many reasons, about the whole situation.

Of course not, i just saw KU dustup and failed to actually read it, one of those things where not reading the thread and responding quickly bit me in the ass. Hope the kid recovers!

No, the wisecracks were considered hilarious. Go show me where the OP is quoted with a "ROFL" smiley below it.

Yeah, someone makes a play on words and people laugh at that, not the situation at hand. It actually helps diffusing the horrible mood a thread like that will bestow on people (that's why we all love Demonpenz).

Not sure what you're referring to, but as long as the joke isn't "lol, a 5 year old died, hahahah", then we're OK.

Unfortunately, it's more than just a rumor.

I'd post a link to KUsports.com, however the board will not allow me to because I'm a n00bie.

KU football player injured in weekend incident; reportedly in good condition

By Dugan Arnett (http://www2.kusports.com/staff/dugan_arnett/)

Ben Lueken, a freshman football player at KU, is being treated at Kansas University hospital for injuries sustained during a weekend incident on the school's campus, a hospital official confirmed Wednesday.
A hospital spokesman Wednesday afternoon said Lueken is in good condition. A condition report had previously been unavailable.<script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8">line') </script><script type="text/javascript"><!-- e9 = new Object(); e9.size = "300x250"; //--></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://tags.expo9.exponential.com/tags/KUSportscom/ROS/tags.js"></script><script type="text/javascript" src="http://a.tribalfusion.com/j.ad?site=kusportscom&adSpace=ros&tagKey=514407733&size=300x250&p=8142793&a=1&flashVer=0&ver=1.14&center=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww2.kusports.com%2Fnews%2F2009%2Fapr%2F08%2Fku-football-player-victim-weekend-incident%2F&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww2.kusports.com%2F&rnd=8151719"></script><script language="javascript"> var tf_clickURL = 'http://a.tribalfusion.com/h.click/aLmNvBSTUFSsjZbRbEnRd7cUcj35UmrodEn0Euu4dMHQcZbE46JLodPtUdbd0bMjXbZbi0aqORFrDTUvXVW3WobjxQbrqYqry5qU i5qj2oTfG1FU9UdJToAnIncYmpdfA2Ere2dyM3mBGmUMZdYGQXXGM30crnpWbbyWuy2B/https://www.freescore.com/Offers/Start/FreeCreditReportAndScore.aspx?ID=522B84F5B5D2BC09F1D55E11252944DD&siteid=ca6c5be8da'; var tf_flashfile = 'http://cdn5.tribalfusion.com/media/1611246/28674_300x250_FCR_04.swf'; var tf_imagefile = 'http://cdn5.tribalfusion.com/media/1611246/28674_300x250_FCR_04.gif'; var tf_width = 300; var tf_height = 250; var tf_background= '#FFFFFF'; var tf_click_command = 'CLICK'; var tf_ignore_fscommand_args = 0; var tf_use_embedded_flash_url = 0; var tf_append_fscmd_args_to_click = 0; var tf_use_flash_wrapper = 1; var tf_id = '924575022'; var tf_click = 'http://a.tribalfusion.com/h.click/aLmNvBSTUFSsjZbRbEnRd7cUcj35UmrodEn0Euu4dMHQcZbE46JLodPtUdbd0bMjXbZbi0aqORFrDTUvXVW3WobjxQbrqYqry5qU i5qj2oTfG1FU9UdJToAnIncYmpdfA2Ere2dyM3mBGmUMZdYGQXXGM30crnpWbbyWuy2B/'; var tf_frame = 'http://cdn5.tribalfusion.com/media/common/flash/frame2.swf'; var tf_button = 'http://cdn5.tribalfusion.com/media/common/flash/button2.swf'; </script> <script language="javascript" src="http://cdn5.tribalfusion.com/media/common/flash/flashwrapv10.js"></script><script language="Javascript"> function TFclick924575022_DoFSCommand(command, args){ if (command == tf_click_command924575022 && tf_use_embedded_flash_url924575022 == 1) { window.open(tf_click924575022+args,'_blank'); } else if (command == tf_click_command924575022 || tf_ignore_fscommand_args924575022 == 1) { window.open(tf_clickURL924575022,'_blank'); } </script>

According to Capt. Schuyler Bailey, a spokesman for the public safety office, a student was struck by a vehicle following a confrontation (http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2009/apr/07/vehicle-hits-student-after-confrontation/) in the parking lot east of the Jayhawker Towers just before 2 a.m. Sunday. Lueken, the victim, was initially taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, but later transferred to KU Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.
Bailey said a suspect has been identified but that the investigation is ongoing. It is Journal-World policy not to identify suspects until charges have been filed.
Lueken's father, Jeff, could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday.
Lueken, an offensive lineman from St. Louis, played in nine games for the Jayhawks in 2008, and is expected to battle for a starting position in 2009.

Nothing in his posting history points to him posting in that manner. I think he made a mistake...usually people that make posts like that do it pretty consistently, he has never been "that" guy.
