Last year, Davies went 9-7 with a 4.06 ERA. But he was beautiful last September, going 4-1, and kept it rolling this spring.

Known for his cutter and his extremely low IQ, John Danks went 12-9 with a 3.32 ERA.

Take the series boys.

I was not happy at all when we signed him. However last year he stepped it up a bit. If he can keep climbing I will be eating my words.

I'm glad we are pitching inside more. I get tired of the "down and away" mentality. That gets old fast. A good pitcher jams a guy up inside and makes him have to get the bat around that much faster.

Down and away usually ends up with tons of walks and jacks.

You mean traded for him?

It was a great trade. Dotel was going to be around for only a couple of months, and we got something for him. SP, even.

Two weeks or so after the trade, Dotel was out for the rest of the season with an injury.

The Davies acquisition is probably one of Moore's best moves b/c we got him, essentially, for free.

While I fully agree that we would be much better off with Dunn than Jacobs, there was no way to guess he was going to sign the kind of contract he did. We made the move for Jacobs way early and Dunn was asking something like 12-15 million/year. The way it broke, of course we would be better off with RamRam and Dunn than Farnsworth and Jacobs, but no one expected the bottom to drop out of the market like it did for guys like Dunn, Abreu, etc.

Mac ended last year with a 2.12 ERA.

So, when does Lumsden come to the majors? A can't miss prospect like that could really help our rotation.

Not sure, but I can't wait to see Dan Cortes continue to tear up the minors. It's nice to get a stud pitching prospect for a bum like Mac.

nope it was 2 for 20.

And I just read through that thread. Yeah, I missed that, but you saying that having an outfield including Dunn and Guillen doesn't matter because defense is overrated is as ridiculous as signing Farnsworth for $4.5 million.

IN todays game power is more valued than defense. This isnt 1977.

I think Hillman jacks off in the club house by playing manager. He loves moving guys around and making pitching changes he didn't need to make. Keeping Teahen at 2nd is more important than any merry-go-round manager bullshit he plays.

I don't think you can do that. I think once you put your DH in the field, you actually lose the DH and your pitcher hits.

So, again, Hillman made the right move. We are stronger with Teahen in RF and Callaspo at 2B than the oppostie.

So, again, what would you have done now in the next inning when the pitcher is scheduled to hit, which is where Callaspo is hitting. You pinch hit for the pitcher and that would be the last DH hit anyway. Then you bring in your new pitcher which is what you were going to do anyway. It's almost kinda double switch-ish.

In the scenario you are talking about, the pitcher would be scheduled to hit for Callaspo in the #9 spot because that is who is leaving the game. Guillen is staying in in RF and would keep his batting spot. So, the pitcher would be scheduled to lead off the ninth. Who would you hit? That is my question. Keep in mind that this game could very well go into extra innings.
