Willie f#cking Bloomquist is our RF?

And we seriously wonder why we have trouble scoring runs.

He's not exactly the rangiest 2B there is.

Ramirez is throwing beach balls today.

Kyle DeLexus
04-11-2009, 05:14 PM
Kinda sucks that Tex will be out. If we want to see some runs scored, you know it'll have to be the Yanks scoring them.

He's not exactly the rangiest 2B there is.

Yeah but he just jogged towards the end of that blooper. For a guy that's fighting for playing time, might want to sprint for that and maybe even....gasp.....lay out for it.

Walk.......this game is going to suck.

i will say though, that on the hit right before that the same happened to Crisp and his defense is solid. there must be some kind of crosswind there today

HoRam is not going to last long if he doesn't produce. Ideally, Hochevar will be called up soon to be the #4 like he deserved to be out of SP. If Ponson can continue to go six innings and give up 4, then he can work out as a #5.

Our bats will get there, but I am worried about the end of our rotation. Hopefully Luke gets to where he needs to be and maybe Banny gets back to form from 2 years ago.

KCCHIEFS27
04-11-2009, 05:33 PM
I think the bottom of the rotation will last. Every team has questions about the bottom half of there rotation, let's not pretend the Royals are the worst. Right now it all depends on the defense and producing runs.

Reaper16
04-11-2009, 05:35 PM
I think we should send Bryan Pena or TPJ down and call up Mitch Maier. Dude's on a bit of a hot streak and would play infinitely better outfield defense than Bloomquist.

i agree with that. especially if Guillen really has a torn hip flexor, that is a 6 to 8 week injury to get totally healthy. he could certainly play RF, and his OBP would help a team that desperately needs it.

Heck, I'm including Hochevar. I'm not sure we can expect him to improve much on his 5.5 ERA last year when he couldn't even make the team out of spring training.

I don't get what the organization loves about TPJ? He's one of the guys you can "race" in the base running sim. They had a bobblehead day for him and everything. Pretty disturbing.

Are you this dense? Sometimes players are sent to the minor leagues to develop. Especially players who have only been playing professional baseball for 2 years.

Is that what you meant by a 1-hitter?

Are you this dense? Sometimes players are sent to the minor leagues to develop. Especially players who have only been playing professional baseball for 2 years.

What's dense is counting on a kid that had a 5.5 ERA to be some sort of savior. He will improve but how much? A full run of improvement still gives him a 4.5 ERA.

Our rotation outside of Meche, Greinke, and Davies is f'n awful with or without Hochevar.

CaliforniaChief
04-11-2009, 05:47 PM
My criticism is that Trey isn't doing anything to spark the offense. You've got a 2-1 count and a decent contact hitter up there, with pretty good speed at first. Why not start Alex and see what happens? You make infielders move on the pitch and you increase your chances to find a hole.

On the flip side, the Yankees show their superior offensive skills with a veteran like Damon grounding a ball to the right side to bring Jeter to 3rd. It's so basic.

Bloomquist's second awful play in the field of the game. I thought we are supposed to like this guy because he lacks talent but hussles and makes up for it in the field. From what I have seen thus far(granted probably two games) he does not belong on an MLB roster. OK, maybe the 25th man on the roster.

It's pretty damn pathetic honestly, im hoping it will be broken in my lifetime. Adam Dunn could've provided a new record as well.

if you put him in this lineup, few quality pitches, park factors, and AL pitching would reduce his count by more than 4 home runs, i would bet. I think you'd be looking at more like 30

I wouldn't give a fuck what they did with Teahen if the organization didn't also expect him to sometimes hit in the 3 hole.

Treat him like a bench player yet expect him to be an offensive cornerstone. WTF is wrong with this theory?

this thread is killing me.

The Royals have improved 6+ games each of the last 3 years. This has only happened about 20 times in major league history. They finally got close to .500 last year. They have two legitimate front of the rotation guys, and one other who can pitch in the league. No, the puzzle is not finished, but surprise surprise

Here we are 4 games into the season and everyone pronounces this franchise as moribund.

What the hell did you think was going to happen? Can you not read the tea leaves on the lineup card? Expecting them to put up 8 runs on Sabathia? Pettite? Denks? Buehrle? What planet are you people from?

Damn the Royals.. not having 5 aces and 9 batting champions to run out there... allowing their players to get injured... not winning all 4 of the first games. Let's cut bait on 22 year old players... get down on guys who hit .300 in the second half last year and .290 the year before, and cry about pitchers who were 5.50ERA being deemed not ready for the show.

I can't believe this is happening! The royals only taking 1 of 4 against two playoff teams from last year throwing out about $50 million worth of pitching. Are you folks on drugs?

Wake up. Look at the last 3 years and what's happened... the team moved from the detroit lions to the middle tier last year.

And my argument again with Hillman is, if Teahen's bat is so good you have to force him in at 2nd then his ass should have been in RF tonight. Guillen on the DL and Hillman benches our alleged hottest bat on top of that? This guy really makes some of the most fucked up decisions at times.

I know, but those guys were grinders and ball players. Gordon is full of himself and thinks he is Brett. I like the kid. I think he can hit the living fuck out of the ball. But I also see how he acts in spring training and hear other things. The kid needs to concentrate on baseball 120% right now and listen to his fucking coaches. Same with Butler. Yeah, dude, best to be somewhat respectful because it's not his wife's fault that he can't hit for shit right now.

I don't understand much of the Butler hype, to be honest. He was another in a long line of 1st round draft picks who were selected simply because they'd sign. Everyone knew that he lacked a position even when he was selected.

And, based on last year, we know attitude has been a problem for Butterball. I expect him to visit Omaha this season again, too.

You want Meche to pitch a day early? The Royals' first game was postponed, while the Yankees were able to play their first game on Monday as scheduled. That means the Royals (and White Sox) pitchers all got pushed back a day. Thus the Royals #5 matched up with the Yankees #1. Today, the Royals #1 (Meche) is up against the Yankees #2.
