Hopefully not.

The Royals just might have the weakest starting RF in baseball right now.

Priest31kc
04-12-2009, 12:23 PM
No Gordon, Butler or Guillen. Not like they have done anything, but damn. This is the worst lineup ever. I dont know if I'll be able to watch.

Gracie Dean
04-12-2009, 12:30 PM
what is the weather like? We have rain drizzle and cold here in Dudah

alnorth
04-12-2009, 12:31 PM
Apparently we'd rather see our 3rd catcher hit than any of those guys.

On 2nd thought though, I guess I'd rather see Brayan Pena show us what he's got against a team we arent likely to beat. When Cleveland and the rest of the AL Central comes to town, we need to be ready to go with our best hitters.

DeezNutz
04-12-2009, 12:32 PM
Has Bloomquist ever played RF before in his career?

Edit: Yes. Shocking for someone with absolutely zero power to be at a corner position. Sad, quite frankly.

Pre-game ain't on.

04-12-2009, 12:37 PM
That lineup reminds me of the 2004-2007 Royals. Not gunna score any runs with that.

And what is this crap where this organization thinks any utility infielder can play in the outfield? Teahen, Gload, Callaspo, Shealy and now Bloomquist. Are you kidding me?

KCUnited
04-12-2009, 12:44 PM
Bloomquist just bounced out to the BP pitcher.

chiefqueen

I can't believe the Royals aren't trying everything to get this game in. This is the Yankees only time in. If it is not played today MLB will let it become a Yankee home game.

Reaper16
04-12-2009, 12:49 PM
Bloomquist simply cannot play RF. This is unacceptable.

If the game is not played, it would not be made up in New York. It will be played in KC or not at all. (Imagine if Boston is going to finish a half game ahead of the Yankees, forcing this game to be played, Boston would insist that the game be played in KC, not New York)

I think they could probably get this game in, but if they dont, then assuming they dont schedule a special 1-day trip on an off-day for both teams (unlikely), then it probably wont be scheduled to be made up at all unless at the end of the year it would make a difference to determine the winner of the AL Central, AL East, or Wild Card standings. If that happens, the game would be played in KC the day after the regular season ends.

It's about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, the Yankees would sell out a make-up game, we would not, therefore the game would be played in NY.

You are wrong. Period.

It does not matter if the Royals would sell 10 tickets, and the Yankees would sell 10 billion, the game will be played in KC, or not at all.

DeezNutz

Was it truly a wild pitch, or did Buck not block or even attempt to block it?

I'm guessing the latter, since few ML catchers actually attempt to block a ball properly.

Pitch in the dirt, it was mostly blocked but rolled a few feet away, fast Yankee baserunner took off immediately.

He might have been out, but Meche was very slow to cover home. If anyone is to blame, its probably Meche.

how many innings does it have to go for a full game...5?

would be cool to beat the yanks

If the home team has the lead, then 4 1/2 innings. The Yankees need to bat one more time.

If they take the lead in the top of the 5th, then we need to bat the bottom of the 5th.

Hey, storm? Feel free to pour down rain at your heart's content any time now.

I watched them delay a game one year for almost 3 hours when the Royals were leading the Yanks. By every stretch it should have been called. A week or two later they called one the Royals were winning against Cleveland for much, much less rain

alnorth
04-12-2009, 02:37 PM
Cool. We have now played 4 1/2 innings with the Royals holding onto a 3-1 lead in a game played at home against the Yankees.

On a COMPLETELY unrelated note, I am beginning to get concerned with the amount of rain in this game. It looks unsafe to me, we already have 2 injuries. Perhaps the umps should consider cutting this one short for the safety of the players.

The game has to go 4 1/2 innings with a home team lead or 5 innings with the away team leading. In either case, the winning team would have pitched 5 innings.

In case anyone is wondering, when the game goes past the 5th inning, the entire inning must be played to count. So, if the Yankees score 4 runs in the top of the 6th, and it gets called at the bottom of the 6th, those 4 runs never happened and we win.
