Per Marvez, four other teams made a claim for Franklin — the Rams, Eagles, Raiders, and Colts. The Lions got the nod, given the whole 0-16 thing.

It begins like this:

Once upon a time, there was a wide receiver who sucked...

I forget the rest.

I think he was poorly coached. It would not surprise me to see him get on the field and do damage.

I think it might be something to do with him coming from a spread offense, having a learning disability, only being 4th in receiving his Sr. year of college, only being able to play on offense and not even being that good of a receiver, and oh not fitting the new scheme.

Man I wish I could remember who all was bashing me last year for not thinking he was any good.

I thought waiving Franklin was a bad move. He has potential.

Franklin has never had an NFL QB throw him a pass.

I'd have to guess that Franklin wasn't at the OTA's, and probably didn't have a good excuse for why.

I bet Franklin was a drunk or something.

And I feel bad for him, he went to pretty much the only place worse than KC.

Wonder if it's not some back-alley bargaining. Maybe the Chiefs "sent" him to Detroit in an under the radar type way(Detroit has first dibs on him no matter what if he's cut), in order to seal a deal they don't want to disclose at this point in time.

Or maybe I'm full of shit. :D

Franklin falls into the category of "1st & 2nd round picks and everyone else".

He was not working for us at all. But, he may work for someone else.

....however, let THEM absorb the risk on that one.
I'm ready for the Chiefs to get 1 (or 2 depending on matchup) guys that can cause some serious sh(t for the secondary.

Now we can only hope the OL can protect for more tan 4 seconds and an 5 step drop.

Who cares what he did under Herm last year. He must have screwed someones wife to get shown the door.

I'm not saying I thought he was going to work out. I was just REALLY hoping he was going to. He had some good measurables and we got him pretty cheap. It would have been nice for him to turn into a BAMF. Now we have....shit.

The Lions picking up Franklin makes me KNOW that the Chiefs made the right decision. Anything the Lions due will be the status quo of ineptitude.

Of course you're right.

Jim Schwartz is a real dumbass.

Those Titan defenses sucked ass.

The don't even compare to the defenses schemed by Clancy Pendergast.

Not even close.

This just means we draft another wideout in a late round (4-7) possibly Jarret Dillard?

Until the Lion's are ever in contention for the playoffs again, I will consider them a poorly run organization even if they brought in Bill Bellichek. Hopefully there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but I would laugh my ass off if they took Michael Crabtree or another really dumb first round pick.

Let me know when Franklin is playing DB under Schwartz otherwise wtf does this have to do with Will "I couldn't beat Devard Darling for a roster spot in the offseason" Franklin.

Well this move makes perfect sense. I mean the lions wanted to make sure chase daniels would have a familiar target when they draft him no 1 overall and they know that maclin likely won't be there in round 2.

I think we gave up on Franklin to early. I though he shown flashes last year.

From Bob Gretz site;

Although Pioli/Haley have not had anything to say about the move with Franklin, word is the Chiefs were unhappy that Franklin showed up for the off-season program out-of-shape and overweight. Thus, his departure may have been a warning shot or an example for others as to what happens if you aren’t dedicated to the program.

Franklin became the poster child for everything the Don hates. A physcially talented player that is not motivated enough to stay in shape, slow to learn, no versitility and poor hands. He is like Chad Jackson and Bethel Johnson, two failed New England draft pick, combined. No wonder they cut him before the first mini-camp.
