I think Savage is kind of nuts on politics a lot, but I enjoy his program immensely. The politics is good, but I really like when he talks about growing up in the Bronx, or about music, or about food or about anything. The non-politics stuff he does on the show is really great. Just the other day, that bit about his dad who was from Russia hating his jazz music. It's a window into another culture and another time, the stories he tells from back then, it's really great. He can do that nostalgia stuff in a really effective way.

People are biased against him because of his incendiary style, but he is really a very talented broadcaster, a great conversationalist, very cultured, a very intelligent person. I think he's one of the most interesting people I've ever heard doing radio.

Are you talking about the DHS right-wing\left-wing whacko report?

The one that Fox News reported this morning that the Bush administration asked for last year and it finally got completed? That report?

However, this morning, Fox News’s Catherine Herridge revealed that the report, along with an earlier report on radicalized left-wing groups, was actually “requested by the Bush administration” but not completed until recently:
HERRIDGE: Well this is an element of the story which has largely gone unreported. One looks at right-wing groups, as you mentioned. And a second is on left-wing groups. Significantly, both were requested by the Bush administration but not finished until President Bush left office.

Savage acolytes tend to hate 'the golfer', 'the leprechaun', 'the wallbanger', basically any other conservative radio host because that's how he is too. Most people either like Savage or like the others.

Personally, I like both Limbaugh and Savage a lot. I never cared that much for Hannity or O'Reilly. I can understand Savage's resentment towards the latter two, because they are probably more successful because they are less offensive. But he's as good as Limbaugh is and better than the others.

Months after the Sept. 11 attacks, President Bush secretly authorized the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on Americans and others inside the United States to search for evidence of terrorist activity without the court-approved warrants ordinarily required for domestic spying, according to government officials.

"The Roman Catholic Church flooded the streets because they cannot get parishioners anymore amongst educated white people who have caught onto the racket and instead they need to import dummies to sit in the church pews. That’s the story and it is not difficult for you to understand — I’m telling you the truth. This has nothing to do with compassion for Mexican workers. This has nothing to do with fairness for Mexican workers — it has to do with the greed ... That’s all there is to it. And that includes the Catholic Church pigs. And if you don’t like it, don’t listen to the show — I really don’t care anymore. Ugh - the quote seems like good evidence.

Start out with the first claim: The Roman Catholic Church (as an institution, from the top-down, he says) is behind getting Mexicans to move illegally from Mexico to the US (no substantial evidence, by the way). Why? Because the Church needs parishoners. Let's examine this though. The Roman Catholic Church is not a an American institution. It is worldwide! It's not like the Mexican Catholics don't count. Dumbass. Only a dumbass would say something like that.

He has a Ph.D. in Epidemiology...

Epidemiology is the study of factors affecting the health and illness of populations, and serves as the foundation and logic of interventions made in the interest of public health and preventive medicine. It is considered a cornerstone methodology of public health research, and is highly regarded in evidence-based medicine for identifying risk factors for disease and determining optimal treatment approaches to clinical practice. In the work of communicable and non-communicable diseases, the work of epidemiologists range from outbreak investigation to study design, data collection and analysis including the development of statistical models to test hypotheses and the documentation of results for submission to peer-reviewed journals. Epidemiologists may draw on a number of other scientific disciplines such as biology in understanding disease processes and social science disciplines including sociology and philosophy in order to better understand proximate and distal risk factors.

Savage is a tricky little neocon, Bush=tolerable but war=GREAT! Obama=bad. Oh and a Christ hater as well. He's a church hater, but he seems to stick up plenty of times for Christians and their traditions, especially when they try to infringe their social laws on government.

And FTR, I used to listen to Savage A LOT. He's got the most entertaining talk show on the radio BY FAR. He makes lots of smart observations about all kinds of different topics, but will also counter those good qualities by calling Muslims "towel heads" or some other derogatory term. He also throws around the term "degenerate scum" way too much.

Again, it's entertaining when he gets angry at callers. But not that well thought-out. I'd hardly say he adds value to the intellectual springs of conservatism, even if he is a bright well-learned scholar.

Where does everyone get this "church hater" stuff from? I don't listen to Savage on a regular basis so perhaps I am missing something.

I seem to always here him talk about God as a good thing and Christianity as a good thing. Is he against the organized crime of the church and thus being labled a church hater?

"Church hater" is a bit strong. But yeah, he's against organized religion, but not religion, pretty much.

Jenson thinks hating on the Catholic church makes you a dumbass, so I guess he's a dumbass.

Well, I won't paint every church with a broad brush but generally speaking the bullshit of organized religion is what drove me away from Christianity. And the Catholic Church had a lot to do with that as well as the Prosperity Preachers. So if that is Savage's take then I would say he is spot on though he shouldn't condemn every church out of spite.

This is exactly how I feel about him. There is no voice on radio that entertains me the way he does. He's very gifted in that, and I've never heard someone make people hate them so effectively. LMAO

He's totally over the top, which is probably why he's so entertaining.

He hated Bush. I heard him say the judges he put on the Supreme Court was the best thing he did in office. The only other thing I ever heard him support Bush on was the War on....ahem, the Overseas Contingency Operation.

My wife used to get pissed when I listened to him because he'd spend the whole show ripping Bush.

Savage?

You're kidding, right?

You wouldn't like him now, but you would have liked him during the Bush years. (if I'm reading into who you are a little bit by what you've posted here....)

I know, I'm probably dead wrong. ;)

I stated tolerated since i really didn't hear him bash bush much, ya the occasional jab but nothing serious. Savage is one of the most dangerous neocons because he is right near the target on a lot of things but he thinks it's all about Islamofascism which is totally false and he's a big warmonger and believer in no rights of those accused as well as guilty until proven innocent.

His show is entertaining. I listen on occasion. He goes too far. He makes everything personal. I stopped listening a time back for a while because he went as far as to make fun of someone's disability because he disagreed with their politics. That was over the line. He becomes way too bent out of shape because the world is not like the Bronx in the 1950's. He is just one of those people that is all mad because he is not getting his way.

You are correct about two wrongs not making a right. I just do not agree with this Savage using this situation that happened all those years ago to be such a bitter old man complaining how the world does not fit his view.
