To answer your question petey I have no problems with the report because they are doing their job. DHS main job is defend this country from INTERNAL and external threats. If you don't know who is in your country it is kind of hard to defend it.

Am I being bitter? I get my panties bunched when I see the media telling flat out lies and government agnecies singling out specific groups for political purposes. And the criteria they seem to have for extremist seems to be a bit much.

But hey, I oppose Illegal Immigration so..I am sure I am on the list. And I like my guns too...so I am probably on it with a * next to my name even.

But I wouldn't say that is what is happening in this report from either side. You have to be able to identify threats and there are threats from the inside of this country it is just not AQ.

We don't know what the report said. We only know a few snippets from it that were leaked to the press. And we don't know what any of the report on left-wing extremists said. The fact that the latter report didn't get leaked to a politician who then went up in arms about seeing his own name doesn't alter the fact that a report was also done on the left, nor does it diminish the probability that both reports were given equal shrift.

With Bush, it wasn't until after he gave up on hunting bin Laden and foolishly turned his attention to Iraq that I came out against him (heck, I voted for him in 2000). The stimulus package is scary, but even that is too soon to tell - it could be a disaster, it could work like a charm. There are too many factors to consider, too many factors of which I have no expertise (nor do most of the naysayers pretending they have expertise) to commit one way or the other at this point. BEP once called me out for a coward for my refusal to pick a side on that issue, and if that's how she wants to see me, that's fine, but I want to wait until the facts are in and we have had time to see the effects over the long run, and that's still many months away.
