As for your claim - the quality on that video is so bad everything about it looks plastic. An interesting word for you to use considering she's quite correctly describing the whole teabagging fiasco as "astroturf."

Kinda funny how the MSM, and you libs, have been reacting to this. It gives the impression of a girl that just saw her ex-boyfriend out with another girl so she’s trashing her ex’s date to anyone that will listen.

No she's only partially correct. These tea parties were originated by the libertarian Pauliticians which is grass-roots. The big-Whig Rs joined later. Our fear was they would use our movement. I mean really a low-tax imperialist is an oxymoron.
Anyhow, who showed up turned out to be an ad-hoc motely group. I saw large photos of Ayn Rand as well as Fair Tax folks. The latter have have been criticized by the libertarian wing as they don't want to reduce govt and try to be revenue neutral instead.
And if it was astro-turfed, then protests arranged by ACORN or the unions are the same thing. Another classic case of projection by leftist politicians. Don't forget America has a large middle-class. We see through this grandstanding.

Despite the hyperbole, there is quite a bit of truth here. After all the deficit spending, bank bailouts and taxes rates all started under George Bush. Yet we didn't hear a peep about it.

The taxes haven't changed for 8 years, the bailouts started a year or so ago and the drastic spending increases started 8 years ago. We certainly didn't see any tea parties 3 years ago.

That's completely ridiculous. There was a fairly large conservative, Ron Paul movement on this message board that was relentlessly critical of the last Republican administration for deficit spending and bailouts. And despite having a reputation around here for being a Bush apologist, I was consistently critical of his domestic spending largess (although then, as now, I also consistently pointed out that democrats wanted to spend even more at nearly every turn). And in between the Ronulans on one end and myself on the other, there was plenty of criticism around her for Bush spending from the other conservatives.

Note that the tea party phenomenon seems to take off at around the point when that huge red bar appears on the time line. Note also that the left was screeching about how Bush was bankrupting America when those short gray bars were taking place but have now fallen silent as those Bush deficits are swamped by the Obama's fiscal bloodletting.

Bush took a 300 billion surplush into the red in less than 3 years. Don't try stating he didn't drastically increase spending. Not to mention the bailouts started with his approval under his watch.

First read post 17 again and stop trying to put words in my mouth. Bush did increase spending. Obama and the democrats make him look like a penny-pinching Dave Ramsey by comparison though.
Take a look at that graph again, dude. Even if you give Bush credit for half of that 2009 red bar (which he fairly deserves), the Obama deficits swamp the Bush deficits. It's not even close. And the worst thing about that chart, as if the sheer magnitude of Obama deficits isn't enough, is that Obama's deficits project to be getting consistently worse at the end of 8 freaking years in office, not better.

So far Obama is on a higher spending pace and I am not happy about it. But your graph doesn't mean much until the money is actually spent. It is projected spending. We'll have to see how much the economy turns around and how spending is adjusted in the near future before we crucify Obama.

The 2009 bar is pretty well established, even if it shows up as projected because the book hasn't been closed. That is enough to explain why these tea parties have taken off now, when they wouldn't have generated nearly as much interest a couple of years ago. People who were upset with Bush spending have become enraged by Bush/Obama spending/bailouts. Add to that the added weight of anticipated future Obama deficits, whether the projections end up playing out or not, and you've got your answer.

Add it in and you've still got a major difference between Bush deficit levels and Obama deficit levels. In fact, leaving aside 2009 (for which both men are responsible), it would be a close call even after adding in the Iraq war factor as to whether the largest Bush deficit was as high as the smallest Obama deficit.
And as I like to repeat, Obama spent more in his first 4 weeks than George W. Bush spent on the Iraq War in 4 YEARS! ;)

Also, Pelosi is strange looking and has probably had too much done to her face. I'm not sure why that's a thread topic though.
But, in reality, Pelosi's appearance has little to do with why she is dangerous and incompetent and needs to be replaced ASAP. She's been dragging Obama down since he got into office.

I'm giving Bush credit for what happened on his watch and a reasonable portion of what happened on Obama's. Normally, the outgoing POTUS was in place when the first budget of the incoming POTUS term is passed, but in this case, it wasn't. Bush gets credit for the TARP (despite the fact that Obama and the democrats were partners in it's passage). Bush also gets credit for a nominal budget, but Obama was in place when the final budget was passed so he gets some credit too and Obama is responsible for the huge porkulus bill (which cost more than 4 years of Iraq War as I've previously pointed out). I think it's fair to give each man credit for about half of the 2009 deficit.

I tend to side with the left on foreign policy these days....but not necessarily in the past.
I also agree with the Ds on a number of other issues that I think are problems that need fixing. I just don't agree with them on the causes or solutions. For instance I don't support nafta and the various "free-trade" arrangements. I do think health care is too expensive. I can support the gay civil unions if done locally and with a libertarian solution or some such variation, provided both sides leave each other alone including how their kids are educated on the matter. I'm radical on education though.

I certainly agree both sides have shared in our current dilemma, and I would say it even goes back further to our first entry into deficit spending.
I don't expect the fringe lunatics (the birth certificate obsessed on the right or the Bush is the debil and bane of all existence on the left) to change much, but lets just hope they stay the lunatic fringe so the real issues can get fixed.

I work in the auto industry and I'm still fuming over the fact that the government gave GM bailout money only to turn around weeks later and suggested they file bankruptcy. WTF??!!!??? :cuss: They could've saved a lot of our money by just suggesting they file bankruptcy the first time around. And for the record, I worked for GM when the GM bailout happened. I was completely against it even then.
