View Full Version : Chiefs Who is the better type of board member?

Sully

I'm not going to mention names, but I think it'll be clear who we are discussing.

Two members.
Both Chiefs fans.

Poster #1- Chiefs can do no wrong. Once you are wearing the Red and Gold, you are automatically destined for the Hall of Fame. A player gets injured? Just move a guy from another position to play, whether he has the tools to play there, or not. He's a Chief...he's awesome!!!!!

Poster #2- Chiefs do things wrong. It's infuriating that they(and other fans) don't see things my way. Just because they are my favorite team doesn't mean I'm not going to bitch and moan everytime I disagree with their moves and strategy. I know my shit.

Now, I understand that the majority of posters fall somewhere in between these two "types," but I wonder which is more interesting for you all to read, discuss, and argue with.

Poster #2 is infinitely better.
And why is this not a poll?

I don't really care as long as long as they're willing to discuss. What annoys me is when people turn football threads into religious discussions where they try to convert all us heathens to their line of thinking, positive or negative.

And fuck, I don't need to call somebody a moron most of the time anyway, they usually show everybody themselves, without me lifting a finger.

Shoot both of them in the face with a potato gun. Send them to another board. Give me the person who doesn't blindly cheer everything and the one doesn't overreact and respond to every opposing opinion that "Chiefs fans don't know anything about (insert here)."

We used to have decent discussions here. Now we have a group of people that blindly follow Pioli and a group that acts superior to everyone else and responds to every possible criticism by acting like a secret club you had in the 3rd grade. "Didn't you hear, Pioli is God." Neither one of them offers as much substance as they used to.

I'd have to lean towards the storms. That type of fan is probably a bit more reality-based than the "All is good, all of the time" fan that sees no wrong in the team.

That said, there are those that, if we were to turn things around, go undefeated throughout the season and win the Superbowl in Pioli's first year here, would still find things to gripe about.

It is, in fact, possible to disagree with decisions made by the Kansas City Chiefs management without resorting to personal insults toward anyone with a divergent opinion.

It is also possible to agree with decisions made by the Kansas City Chiefs management without resorting to those same personal insults.

Personally, I think many of you would argue with a fucking shovel if there were no one else around. But the name calling is really unnecessary and juvenile. Try arguing like you're sitting on a bar stool next to the other guy, the conversations would likely be more productive and enjoyable.

Personally, I don't give a crap. Most of you know more about the Chiefs than I do.

I am more of a sunshine guy. Not because I agree with everything the Chiefs do, but because I realize that the Chiefs (Even Herm Edwards) know far more than any of us on this board.

I don't mind someone giving an opinion that is contrary, but there are some that bash every move, every player. And, when you read some of the arguments of the "I know my shit", Storm people, it is clear that they don't know their shit. Then, they want to come at anyone who dissagrees with them like they are a moron.

It's laughable, really.

But the #2 thinks he knows more than he does and tries to bully and control the board. He/they seem very insecure in that they behave as if the world will end if their view isn't agreed upon by all.

I don't think either one is necessarily better than the other. It's the attitude that people have that makes the difference. You can be a homer or anti-homer and still be open for debate. It's when you assume that you know better than everyone else about an issue that it gets irritating.

I laugh any time someone uses the word "guarantee" when predicting anything sports related. The only guarantee is that the team that scores more points wins. Saw a couple of "guarantees" about drafted players yesterday and wanted to shit myself laughing. I guarantee those people don't know half of what they think they know.

I think #1 is a silent, mega-majority. And thus, when you include the full scope of #1, including both the outspoken defenders against the ranters of #2 and the vast majority of the silent members of #1, they are far, far, far, far, far, far more favorable than #2.

This is a simple one...the "fan" who hates everything, predicts nothing but gloom, and second guesses everything. This type of vermin produces NOTHING...no value to the board at all. I don't dig the blind kool aid drinker, but at least that guy is trying to enjoy himself and the team. The negative prick thinks he's a fan and is sure he knows more than everybody else combined.

I used to be a regular on a site that was basically nothing but a bunch of blind homers. If I ever questioned the Chiefs plays, players, etc, then people were all over me telling me I wasn't a fan. I'm not even a nay-sayer usually. I prefer realists over blind homers and anti-fans. If I had to choose though, I'd rather argue with an anti-fan. They usally bring up good points, it's just a shame that they focus on the negative all the time.

blaise
04-27-2009, 09:23 AM
They're both annoying. I think it's funny when the #2s go to the, "Are you fucking kidding me you idiot asshat? Dumbass idiot. Dumbass noob. I HAVE A LOT OF POSTS!" they don't seem to realize how ridiculous they look. You can go to every single NFL message board, or any message board for that matter, and find a carbon copy. There's a couple of guys here that don't seem to realize they're basically caricatures of message board blowhards, and the fact that they don't see that makes it all the more funny.
And the other funny part is that when you take a crack at one of them some lackey, or someone that must be on their jock, will pop up and give me a neg-rep. That guy is almost worse. It's pathetic really.

ziggysocki
04-27-2009, 09:26 AM
The thing that strikes me as funny is this; I have never seen a larger group of people who basically hate the Chiefs and everything they do, and it is on a Chiefs themed board. Ironic. Myself, I am a tweener... I hate watching them lose and love watching them win. But even at 2-14 I'm still rooting for them to win. I swear there are people here who want them to lose, just so they can say, "See, I told you that draft was bad and so-and-so sucks!"

OnTheWarpath58
04-27-2009, 09:28 AM
Since there is no middle ground option, I'd have to vote for #2.

Those folks tend to be more realistic, and there's really nothing worse than someone who thinks that everything is rainbows, puppy dogs and ice cream when it's painfully obvious that it's not.

There are a lot of people here that I would consider realists, that call it as they see it - but are being branded as negative.

Then again, what exactly has there been positive to talk about as a fan of a team that has gone 15-33 in the past 3 years?

Personally, when I see something positive, I'll say something positive.

When I see something negative, I'll say something negative.
