That'd be a 3 game improvement against a much more difficult schedule.

I don"t believe Magee will start. Plans can change, but after what Haley said about Dorsey, it sounds likes they have plans of keeping Dorsey outside at a 3-4 DE.

We'll find out how much difference coaching makes because the roster isn't significantly different overall.

I don't really expect Tamba to start either, he'd probably have to be more of a third down player at OLB. Vrable and Hali both starting at OLB would be brutal for our pass coverage.

True, but it would be nice to actually start the repair rather than thinking that the best way to fix a broken toilet and leaking shower (our pass rush and o-line) is by putting up wallpaper (signing STers and run stoppers).

Basileus777

You can't really compare this draft to last year. Last year was a much stronger draft and we had a lot more picks. We were in a position at #3 where anyone we would feasible take would be a reach. Jackson wasn't ideal at #3, but he has the potential to help us more than any other option there except for Raji.

You are 100% correct, but isn't that consistent with the value in the draft? I must have heard 100 time that this draft is deep offensively and next years is deep defensively? Isn't that what was SUPPOSED to happen?

I don't think that Herm did much damage at all to the team. In fact the team is in a much better position for future success as a result of his little youth movement. The problem with Herm is that he just couldn't effectively coach the team on gameday.

Seriously? They'll be more sacks from the scheme alone. And I think the line play will be better, which will make it easier for everyone else to do their jobs, including rushing the passer.

I don't ascribe bad faith, I ascribe bad judgment. Never once have I said they did anything in bad faith. They aren't picking guys to fail, they are making bad picks.

There's a reason why run pluggers and strong side ends don't go in the top 10, and it has to do with value.

If you can't rush the passer in a passing league, you can't win. We didn't even attempt to address this. I'd be we are a top 10 run D and a bottom 5 pass D next year.

The problem is that so many of those picks simply don't fit in the new 34 scheme.

QB
Guys who rush the QB
Guys who block the QB's blind side

Cleveland had a horrible pass rush last year in the 3-4. San Diego's sucked w/o Merriman. If you don't have edge rushers, you aren't doing shit for pass rushing in the 3-4

Let's put it this way. A team with a line of Williams, Olshansky, and Castillo had 28 sacks.

A team with Shaun Rogers had 17 sacks.

Dallas had 59 sacks with a pretty crappy front.

I would have guessed Johnson as OLB and Vrabel inside.I'd assume if they're in any sort of 3-4 set, Johnson would be the coverage backer and Thomas the between the tackles backer. Or if playing under, DJ will, Thomas mike, Vrable Sam and Hali (?) in the flex position. But I don't know.
