With the Lions giving Stafford a 20% raise from what Ryan got last year in the #3 spot, have they made life very difficult for all the other top 10 teams this year? Do you think there will be a lot of holdouts in the top 10?

Personally if Mr. Jackson doesn't want accept a reasonable deal, this is the year I would have no problem letting his ass sit out and try again in next year's draft. It's not like the guy lit the world on fire to justify #3 money.

Uhhh no.

Sounds retarded doesn't it? How much should we pay him? Where would you draw the line?

Dont know......its our fault we reached......not his.

I doubt he's going to go for anything less than what 3rd overall value is. I'm sure him and his agent are looking out for him.

Wouldn't you try to capitalize on this as well?

Jackson will look for something around the same deal that Chris Long got IMO from St. Louis last year. Maybe 10% more because of Stafford's increase and the difference between the #2 last year and #3 this year.

Oh, I definitely would. But I would also take a strong look at where I would go the following year if I had to hold out the entire time and evaluate what would equate to more money.

All I'm saying is if I was the GM I wouldn't overpay for a guy just because we picked him at 3.

Doesn't the fact that a QB will always get more money than a OL come into play?
Jackson should get somewhere slightly more than last years #3 since he's not a QB.
Since Ryan was a QB I'm thinking more along the lines of what Chris Long signed for last year.

And $30 Million of that guaranteed. Not bad for a guy that on draft day was compared to a second round pick in the past.

Larry English....for sure!

Well, the rumor is that the Chiefs contacted the agents for several of the top 5 or 6 players and Jackson's was the one that said they'll accept whatever the slotting is and won't look for anything special.

I expect Jackson to be on-board before camp easily.
