I hope the thread isn't too dramatic - don't have all the details.

Doesn't look like players were hurt, but we just had a nasty storm roll through. I know 4 people were injured, not players though.

The video on the news showed them standing around inside looking up at the lights bouncing around during the high point of the storms, next thing you know... they're running around like crazy with roof over their heads. Pretty wild.

I miss thunderstorms. They're not quite the same here. But I don't mind the peace of mind of knowing the chances of my house getting destroyed by a tornado are slim to none.

Yeah, at 4pm... it was essentially on the I30 area near Rockwall... and headed towards ya. It was nasty, but only lasted about 30 minutes. Insane amounts of rain.

So their ST coach was the only one that was injured?

Not Quite .........

Between the falling debris and the furor to get out, special teams coach Joe DeCamillis broke his back and 11 more people were hospitalized.

About 60 others felt lucky to escape with only cuts and bruises........

DeCamillis, hired a few months ago, is likely to need surgery to fix “a couple of broken vertebrae” in his lower back but is expected to recover, said his father-in-law, Dan Reeves, the longtime NFL coach.

DeCamillis was among 10 people taken away by emergency vehicles. Two others went to hospitals on their own.

....... “Right now, I think we don’t have anybody who is in a life-threatening situation,” said Dr. Paul Pepe, head of emergency medical services for Dallas County.

Those with more serious injuries included a person with a head injury, one with an open fracture below the knee and someone who was impaled with metal, said Tommy Gonzalez, Irving’s city manager.

Yikes, I'm fairly certain I don't want to know what an "open fracture" is, and impaled by metal?

At least there will be a nice lawsuit against the architect and contractor to look forward to.

Apparently they've got an engineer now, and he's ruling that it didn't collapse as a result of blowing outside the building, but rather sucking inside it.

Well, they're not the only team that uses this type of facility. It was an unfortunate incident.

Very sad. Unbelievably so, in fact.

The Tacks have a facility that looks like one of those giant, inflatable, plastic bag things that kids jump around in at the fair. I don't know, however, if it has metal supports. Never noticed. What do the Chiefs use?

The Texan's have one just like it. They deflated it a few days before Hurricane Ike hit. Took about 1 day. Lucky they did becaue Reliant Stadium's roof sustained a great deal of damage, because it's that fiberglass tarp stuff, but the "old and outdated" Astrodome didn't suffer any damage.

I may be wrong, but I think there are 2 types... one that is inflatable (they use a different wording) like you describe and then the other structure like Dallas had. Same concept and maybe the same company, but if I recall correctly, the Cowboys' facility was not like that one in Houston.

Here's the company...

http://www.summitstructures.com/

I don't know if the Cowboys were previously listed under the "Projects" tab, but they are not on there now.

It references the Patriots 'previously' used an "air supported structure" and moved to this one, which is what I believe Dallas had in place.

http://www.summitstructures.com/images/industries/sports/new-england-patriots/top_image.jpg

Interestingly enough, this is what is in place at Winstar Casinos is Thackerville, OK. And, with the wind issues they have at times in OK, you have to imagine those folks have been on the phone with each other since Saturday.

Now that would be chaos. Imagine a casino with people playing and all of a sudden the roof collapses. There would be no security cameras or anything and would be some serious looting.
